  1. Thanks a lot Ernest
  2. Beautiful build - really nice /Niels
  3. Thanks Tony - I am currently building the Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Mk IXc If you meant which F-16 next.. weeell.. I have a list. I have to make the new Danish demo viper for sure, but I am also looking to some more "exotic" air forces /Niels
  4. Thanks a lot Pete - I really love this paint job. a BIG hazzle to paint it though. Can´t wait to see your finished Lancaster
  5. Thanks a lot Ray
  6. That is a little funny.. I am actually in the middle of building the 1/24 Airfix Spitfire Mk IXc .. Cheers Niels
  7. Wow Chuck.. a surprise reveal. And what a reveal.. that paint job is just fabulous and the model is meticulous. Pure joy to follow your build. I will have to "steal" this one Amazing photography as well. What are you planning next? Niels
  8. They would still have to redesign the rear fuselage part but I think your dream is shared by many
  9. I built it a few years ago and found it to be a really nice kit. I was quite impressed by the detail. I don't recall any issues with the fit either. Niels
  10. Its not OOP.. you can buy it from their website Niels
  11. That is super nice. I really like the white spinners. Niels
  12. Ha, maybe it is time for a "Vanilla" F-16 - To be honest, I actually really enjoy these elaborate masking projects but it was the metallic paints that nearly finished me off on this one.. But lets see whats next - My shortlist right now is an A-4M Skyhawk in light grey or a Spanish Harrier
  13. Of course Ray and thanks /Niels
  14. Thanks Neo I primed the nose in light grey and left to dry for weeks while the rest was painted. I then painted the black color and with a new curved scalpel blade, I carefully scraped off the black paint from the raised strips. It only took one pass with very minor clean up. /Niels
  15. Thanks Tony I use the washes from Flory Models. They are clay based washes (basically mud) so they can very easily be manipulated with water. I mostly use the one called "Dark Dirt" /Niels
  16. Hi All Its time for another F-16 - This time it is one that is pretty special to me. I first saw the "Orange Lion" at a local airshow in 2012 and I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever. Unfortunately the weather was really poor so he mostly made (VERY) high speed passes. This was even before I got back in to modelling so at the time I had no idea I would be building a model 12 years later, but there you go.. The model is the Tamiya Thunderbirds kit, with a KASL tail conversion. The Smokewinders are from WANDD Studio and the pilot is from Reedoak. The travel pod is also from KASL. All markings are painted on except the data stencils around the cockpit. The paintjob was really a handful and tested my patience to the limit. The camera does not pick it up very well but the orange colors are all metallic. I used the two part set from MRP on top of a gloss black base with some highlights in silver. I am satisfied with how it came out in the end but I will not be attempting to do it again anytime soon The paint masks were cut with the incredible help from DN models once again I want to thank @Shujaa for helping out with a ton of images of the real aircraft he got from a personal walk-around. Incredible stuff. I couldn´t resist having a shot of this one in formation with my "Dannebrog" model.. Thanks for looking Niels
  17. I think this is a really valid point and it always makes me wonder why certain kits have not found their way to the market yet. I think many model builders are keen to build models of aircraft that have a special meaning to us, and I can find no factor bigger than they were flown by the air force of our home country. So the more air forces operate an aircraft type I would think it would generate more sales and be an obvious choice of subject. I may be completely wrong of course and you have to consider the "attractiveness-factor" as well - some aircraft just have a very special mass appeal simply because of the way they look. One example for me is the Dassault Rafale: Widely used be many air forces, very attractive shapes, easy to make 3 separate releases (Single seat, Navy version and a two-seater), many different and interesting schemes..
  18. Get well soon Chuck - Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. /Niels
  19. Damn! That really is big (..and beautiful) - Those 4 engines just look amazing. Really top class work on those. Have you glued the outer wing sections to the inner section? /NIels
  20. Don´t know if you have seen this but Jake Melampy posted on FB on the weekend that he will be closing down Reid Air Publications by the end of the year. For fans of modern jet aviation and large scale modelling this is just really sad news... His Modern XXX guides are the best reference material around and his decals are super as well. /Niels
  21. I have never seen that camo on the Hornet but it looks very attractive. As always your paint works and finish are exceptional! Niels
  22. Looking good.. maybe I should restart my build as well I really think this is the intended build sequence by Wingnut Wings. Makes a lot more sense. Too bad about Nigel's videos. They were really helpful. I really like watching them.. only downside is that I have yet to see him actually finish a model - any model. It's a bit annoying his videos all seem to stop mid-build.. Niels
  23. just a couple of comments and some good news regarding the Pylons The ex-Danish jets in the pictures have actually been slightly repainted as is clear around the cockpit - The transition area between the dark and light grey. It is quite clear to see where the repaint has been done. There is an obvious band of freshly applied light grey around the Gun-Muzzle. Also be aware that all Danish jets are painted in lighter shades of grey than the standard NATO colors as applied to e.g. Dutch F-16´s. Light Grey (Underside) FS26373 Medium Grey (Cockpit area / Tail) FS26270 Dark Grey FS26132 - I usually use MRP141 Neutral Grey 43. Its a really close match Also note that a unique feature on Danish F-16´s is that the topside of the Stabilators are actually painted in Medium Grey and not Dark Grey as on all others with the NATO camo scheme. I am not sure if this has been repianted on the Ukranian jets. There are actually two different types of these similar looking pylons and you are showing them both. They are called PIDS+ and ECIPS. They differ only slightly, especially around the front. The one mounted on the Ukranian jet is actually the PIDS+ pylon - and we are all in luck (Finally) - Wolf 3D Resin Parts are making them all and the PIDS+ is just being released (ECIPS later). He has showcased the CAD on facebook and it should hit his webshop any day now.. https://www.wolf3dresinparts.at/shop/f-16/ /Niels
