Max I think these drawings should be despatched to Mark (Kotare) repeatedly, until he tells you to stop. -

ARMA HOBBY 1:48 HAWKER HURRICANE MK.IIb TROP
Stevepd replied to The F-16 Freak's topic in Non-LSP Works
Very nice indeed. -
I'm sure most of us started at 1/72. I then progressed into 48th and thought it was a different world. Then my wife brought me the "new" 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire when it was released. I couldn't believe the difference and presence. Having done model shows from behind the desk and as public, I was always drawn to 1/32. Looking back, it just seemed a question of when. Since that Spit I've never built a smaller scale. I look back and think HOW on earth did I make those?. Steve.

Hello all it's been a while, but progress has been ongoing in the background. So a first for me, I purchased the Archer Rivets and took the plunge (after I forgot to put them on). Derek - I kleared the rear end and got started. I found that the decals didn't need anytime at all in water before they wanted to lift away from the backing paper. So adjusted my method slightly and put them in water and immediately dragged the decal (still on the paper) to the side of the dish. I use a shallow rectangular dish where the side is no angle at all. Using my trusty old Aeroguide book (remember them!) and some walk-around photos off the internet the task progressed. The instructions recommended to use Microsol to bed them down but again this was lightning quick. Once applied they were welded on. So I placed them with water, dabbed the excess away then hit them with Microsol = bingo. As you can see I selected two different styles of rivet; single line & a heavier wave effect. The latter was to replicate the heavier lines on the upper and lower area of the rivet lines. Where as the others I've done the two singular lines like the real thing. Now the compromise. I've pointed out with the two white arrows where it's gone wrong. These vertical lines should be more equally spaced to even out that area. I did the starboard side first and did the outlines. Using my references to place the vertical lines, there is a panel line in the upper most part above the top rivet line. The is the rear most arrow. It's now obvious that the panel line is not correct as it thrown me out moving forward, not allowing me to equally divvy up the area. Also, I'm conscious of decal consumption. So I'm committed now. Those who know will see it, but it looks effective but not accurate. I then had to make the port side the same even now with the knowledge. I continued and over the 10 days or so taking breaks, kept coming back to it, and the giving the eyes a rest. This is tiny and the most fiddly of things to do. It kinda looks ok against the white background for all to see before I throw another coat of white on it. Overall, I'm glad I've done it and certainly learnt how to put them on. The only real gripe was that I could lay a long line of singular rivets easily, but the heavy weave type would break up in the water to 5/6 rivets or so, and they then had to be placed and aligned without inducing my own weave!. Anyway, moving on. Usual rules, if you see it's wrong or anything I should know please speak up. I'm not priming today so plenty of time to correct it. I'm lying in a dark room today and cry. Steve.

I'm exactly the same. I've nearly purchased the 1/32 Eduard E-4(?) BoB kit. See I can't even reference it correctly. But have never built one to date.

They looks spot on. How on earth did you make the securing bracket for the hyd line that sits just above the oleo?. Even in 1/24 that's going to be tiny- 96 replies

Morning Guy. I think you're being a little hard on yourself. We all strive to make our models flawless, but alas there are compromises along the way. Having bumped up your view count for the Hawk from years ago, you've still got it (by a country mile). Regarding the glue spot which is hard to see, but I fully appreciate you know it's there. Take a break and come back to it. I've been introduced to Deluxe looks like glass which is good stuff, but it applied after painting. Masking will leave a residue, which is hard to get off (ask me how!). You could try that over the glue spot or remove it and apply afterwards.- 96 replies

Can you get your cash back?. There are shockingly bad, but a few ££ $$ €€ here and there, they're not bothered at all. Just put everyone off you know in your circles and word will spread. I read yesterday, elsewhere that even the 1/48 stuff for the new Airfix Jag is equally crappy.

Nope flat and going to get Jet washed any day now. Perfect for when doing servicing on the car and I've got one corner jacked up. I did get a roll of the eyes from my wife when she asked why I was measuring the chock!

As requested Anything else just ask.

I've got one in the garage, but too big for your needs. But if you want dimensions and photos..........

Those exhaust stains looks spot on and it's a fine line to over do it. I think you've nailed it myself.- 96 replies

I was thinking exactly the same as Guy. A lovely looking model, very realistic bar the tyres.

It's brilliant and keep going. Take a break, no rushing and you'll win all day long. -
A progress report of such. I've sanded back the filled areas that the primer showed more attention needed. I then put the front piece canopy on and it was immediately obvious that it didn't fit on the 3 sides!. The front face sat below the plastic of the kit and the 2 sides had about 1.5mm extra material past the edge of the glazing (sigh). So I've masked it up and glued it on and to the kit. The 2 sides were built up with layers of filler and smoothed over. And the front was again built up and smoothed. It Looked alright and so I threw another coat of primer on it. It's drying super quick in the weather we've got at the mo in the UK. Then the thought weighed heavy on my shoulders; Option 1. Not doing modelling each day I've returned to the kit, had a look at it and decided what needs done next. So I sprayed 3 light coats of white on to the model. Then it hit me that I'd not put the Archer rivets on. Option 2. Get the kit ready for paint and put its first colour (glossy) on and then add the Archer rivets on, with a further coat once done. So I thought I'd done with the fiddly bits, alas no. Thanks for dropping in and have a good weekend all. Steve.

My wife is Irish, so you can imagine some of the laughs I've had over the 35 years. When she came across to the UK, for a start an ice cream van was a marvellous idea. So when she went up to the man and asked for a "Poke" I think he thought his luck was in!. Until I explained we call it a 99 with/without a flake, good times were ahead of us. If anyone has seen Clarksons farm, that's me and Cherry and "Bad girls" (not what yout think) on Apple TV, that's her and the sisters (all of them wired in their separate ways.

Advice for fixing wavy trailing edge on 1/32 Lancaster
Stevepd replied to jmustarde's topic in LSP Discussion
I suppose you could cut away a slither and insert your own plasticard strip and build it up. I'm sure others will be along with a more appropriate suggestion. -
Well that's just rubbish, isn't it. You'll return when the time is right and that in itself will be a little medicine.
