  1. Could you please give us a wide angle picture of your workbench/workspace? Where do the drawers come from? Purchased or homemade? .
  2. I've got the 1/48 Miss Thriftway in the stash. Excellent model, and the decals look great. After seeing this, it's gonna advance on the build list. Lusting after the 1/25 Miss Bardahl!
  3. Go with the grass base. The judges can pull out their dental mirrors. And eat their cold, little hearts out...
  4. Great build, excellent detail. I've got one in The Stash. I'm intimidated by the prospect of trying to render an acceptable paint job. Is anyone aware of AM decals for the wing and fuselage scallops?
  5. Don't know if this link will post, but try this. http://yolo.net/~jeaton/earlyjets/xf90/
  6. Could you take a few steps back and give us a few shots of your work space?
  7. Have to agree with MostlyRacers. The bottom of the intakes are OK. The top is too "fat" and "hooked."
  8. Can you explain how you did the exhausts? They don't look like the kit ones.
  9. Most Excellent Phantom! I especially appreciate the subtle panel lines and shading. Looks Real!
  10. X-Planes! I want X-Planes! As far as I know, the ancient Revell "Yeager" X-1 is the only one. If someone knows of another, please post. Oh yeah, and a B-29 and a B-52. Gotta drop those X-Planes...
  11. Could you use an "English Wheel" to get a compound curve? The litho plate looks strong and thick enough.
  12. Got to go to Reno a few years ago. (Going back THIS year!). Died and gone to heaven. Wish there were more Reno Racers in 1/32. *** sigh ***
  13. The WA ANG flew F-101's. They flew dog fights "down in the weeds" over the wheat fields of Eastern Washington. Pretty cool to see a high-altitude interceptor cranked over down low.
  14. I've been looking over the planes built here, and have been trying to identify genre's or consistent themes. Well, they're here! But I won't call them out. Better for others to do that. But I will talk about what appeals to me, and why. I was in the Marines during the Vietnam War, as an air traffic controller. So, "The Planes I Worked With" appeal to me. F-4, A-4, and especially the F-8. Built a lot of these in 1/72! Occasionally, I see a build with a squadron number that I worked with. Cool! Gotta build a Phantom, one of these days... X-Planes! Read "The Right Stuff" and Yeager's auto bios. Unfortunately, not too much available at 1/32 or bigger. Darn. Golden Age, especially racers. They just "look right." A Lockheed Sirius or Northrop Gamma in 1/32? Oh, yeah, baby! Improbable aerodynamics. The wierd and wonderful. F5U Flying Pancake, Chance-Vought Cutlass, any flying wing. So, what's yours?
  15. Seeking immortality through Stash accumulation. I'm trying it!
  16. I propose something like a "White Elephant" exchange. Select ONE kit from your stash, and it goes in the pool. You can't say what it is. No clues! None! Except it has to be LSP Legal. Somehow.. We work a "blind exchange." Don't like what you get? Throw it back in The Pool! OK...got mine selected! Who wants it?
  17. I've just received the Staggerwings 1/32 today. Help and info on the interior would be appreciated as well. I have the 1/48 from AMT in the stash as well as a huge hunk of Eduard AM PE. Just take it over to the copier, hit "Enlarge," and... Seriously, an examination of the AMT 1/48 and Eduard goodies may help with the interior, wheel wells, etc.
  18. In a heartbeat! And the Lockheed Vega/Orion/Sirius, etc. I'd especially like to see the Lindbergh Sirius in 1/32.
