  1. Hi Erwin, it can also be a good opportunity to try the so called "sponge painting" technique. Otherwise, what coogrfan said seams great too.
  2. All right ! Thanks Brad for the kind words. I have been waiting for the GB to start before I start building but I have been "studying" a lot while waiting . Trumpeter P-40 are not bad kit at all, they apparently have some flows here and there and for most of those, I am not able to tell wether these flows are real or not... so that's fine by me BUT, there is one thing that I know I have to work on and this is the cockpit floor. On P40s, cockpit floor is in fact the top side of the wing so it is curved while Trumpeter's floor is flat. That means it is not deep enough and even if the most curved part is in fact bellow the seat, it still shows and give a wierd feeling about the all thing. Here are the kit parts They are not bad to be honnest appart that flat floor thing. Having to redo the floor, I will also have to extend the rear bulkhead and side panels... which will give me a chance to upgrade them as they do not quite depict P-40N model. Well, that's the plan at least, we will see how it turns out Thanks for following!
  3. Hey, now worry Brad, it is my "10 years old I can't wait kid" side that just pops up... Trust me when I say that I know first hand that real life can be tricky. Wish you all the best !
  4. Hello all, it is with a great pleasure and a bit of exitment that I am going to enter this group build. I have always liked the P-40, I think it looks agressive and mean but lately, I have litterally had some sort of P-40 fever after reading a few articles and so decided to build one. Amazingly, it has not been that easy to find an aircraft that tics all the boxes of the GB theme as I already had my mind pretty much set up on what I wanted to build... but finally, I managed to get everything come more or less together. I wanted to build an aircraft from the Burma Banshees as these big skulls on the nose of the P-40 have always captivated me. This said, the 80th Fighter Group did not produced that many aces and then, I had to find the specific decals for one of those aces. So, finally, I choose to go with Samuel Eugene Hammer who was the one and only P-40 "only" aces of the 80th FG; there was some other aces but they scored some of their victories on other types of aircraft (P-38 and/or P-47 if I am correct). I initially wanted to buy Hasegawa P-40N but was not able to find one so I bought Trumpeter model and found a set of decal on the other side of the planet. This is where I started to get wrong... in fact, Hammer's P-40N was an early N so it did have the "old style" canopy and rear framing, just like a P-40M but both Trumpeter and Hasegawa have the "new style" canopy and framing ... I'll have to leave with that I guess I also bought a few after market stuff which is quite unusual for me as I often claim I prefer to do things by myself but let's say it this way, I want to maximise my chances to finish this build for once We have Eduard Look instrument panel which looks very good to me, Eduard pre-cut mask and Eduard threaded wheels. Here is the kit: And the aftermarket stuffs: That's it for now, the kit has been waiting for me to start for almost 3 weeks now so it is time to get back to the bench! Thanks for following ! Cheers, Loic
  5. Hi guys, just saying.... but isn’t it about to me to kick off the next GB ?
  6. Well, I know this was not really your point but I did some what if builds my own way in the past: - what if we had a 1/32 scale hawker tempest kit... and now we have several - what if we had a 1/32 scale B5N Kate kit... and we are about to get one - what if we had a 1/32 scale Do-335 kit and well, we have a complete fleet of those - what if we had a 1/32 scale Mirage F1 kit... and it seams there is going to be one soon.... looks like there is some sort of conspiracy to prevent me to build what if and turn these into reality... I now am going turn to what if I manage to finish one of my builds , who knows what may happen !
  7. Good to hear he seams to get better. Bring that man more fried chicken! Joke aside, let’s hope he will recover well.
  8. One late HB for you Brian ! Better late than never I guess... Sometimes, bad things turns into the best experience, keep faith in your self!
  9. Wish you a prompt recovery Harv’
  10. Hey! that was over 10 years ago.... thought everybody would have forgot about it by now...
  11. Hi ! sometimes bad luck finally turns into good results... I finally committed to buy the dambuster lanc , move it to cart and because it was late in the evening decided to finalise the paiement next morning... did it... and when I recieved confirmation for the order, it mentionned that the article was « out of stock » I knew this was their last item in stock but it was available when I cart it.. I felt down and stupid not to finalise in the evening but took a chance to call saler and ask... apparently someone bought the last one just before I finalised my order... while discussing with the guy, he checked his stock and found a 3 in 1 version left which provide both regular bomber and dambuster included... for the same price of 270€ So, several things... first of all, thank you to LSP members who PM me to propose some of their leftover parts, that was very kind and much appreciated. Second, it appears that this saler can resupply and, as they have very good prices, I thought I would share... this is cocktail-distribution here in France. Finally, sometimes bad luck can turn into something good... so keep faith ! Cheers ! loic
  12. Hi, thanks for Feedback . It is just that Imight found a really good deal on this dambuster kit but would prefer to build a « réguler » bomber version... Call me never happy
  13. Hello all, I searched the forum but was unable to find an answer to my wonderings... Does anyone knows if the HKM Lancaster « Dambuster » also includes parts for the « regular » bomber version (bomb bay doors, dorsal turret, etc...)? thanks un advance! loic
  14. Well... I like the group build thingy plus I think I really need the associated deal line « pressure » to be able to get anything completed...
  15. Many thanks! I can’t wait for the next GB to start so I’ll see if I can still manage to glue some bits of styren together
  16. Hi all, well, I am not completly new to the forum, I have to plead guilty for starting a few builts here in the past and I even managed to complete a handfull of them but I have been away from the forum for a few years... For quite some time now I have the feeling that I want to come back to modelling and I have been through many, many LSP topics those last weeks and I have seen marvelous new builds While crossing this (new to me) topic, I thought I could share a couple of pictures of my egg-head and share a quick presentation... so, let's do it! Loic - 48 years old but still feeling like 16 in my own head ... - loosing eye sight at close range on a regular path year after years - living in south of France since 2002, married, 2 daughters aged 13 & 16, working in the automotive industry since... ever - as per a majority of people on these forums I found great interrest in airplanes and models - I also like motorbikes and all engine powered activities in general - finally, I love sport activities, martial arts and practice Taekwondo and Kick-boxing And, as it seams to be some sort of fashion here... the much needed "show off" picture (this one was shot a few years back thought): Thanks for reading ! Cheers, Loic
