  1. Keep w You can keep the errors, just give me the plastic
  2. Instead of deepening the grooves, it’s easier to reduce the thickness of the radiator mounting plates, like I did.
  3. I can predict their next kit will be a Supermarine Tempest. In 1/35 scale, of course
  4. Sorry I cannot give you a precise answer because I’m onto something else. All I remember is that I built the Airfix 1/24 Spit with my 2 hands with the help of my trusty converted clothespins, no clamp needed. And that I did follow the Airfix instructions by the letter/image.
  5. It’s only me but I would slavishly follow Airfix’s instructions.
  6. Neither am I … but I’d also like to know!
  7. Well appears I was too modest in my estimation Kit €117 + Acc €74 + p&p €45 = €236 direct from HPH Agreed that prices are more interesting from Hannants …except that we, continentals will have to pay additional import customs thanks to Brexit
  8. This is much better than what has been quoted - especially from the big H
  9. 99.9% of my builds have mixed components. I guess that would explain my addiction to primer
  10. To each his own chemistry. I’ve been using primer since 1980. They called it DuPont Lucite then. Nowadays I always put a coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200 diluted with hardware store lacquer thinner prior to painting. Not a single mishap with lacquer paints: Gunze, Tamiya, AK, Hataka. I steer away from MRP because I hate paying extra for someone else to thin the paint for me.
  11. … that makes around 170 euro total to which you’ll have to add the VAT (21% in Belgium). In final, you’d have to shell out roughly 200 euro to get the Val, practically doubling the price Infinity quoted. Outrageous? Some may find so.
  12. Indeed you need a primer, most likely a lacquer primer like Mr Surfacer (my fav) or Tamiya. Some people like the trendy acrylic primers like Badger Stynylrez, Vallejo or Mig Ammo One-shot.
  13. I always thought the smoke rings -especially that peculiar shape - were specific to the camouflage applied at Macchi plants. Now I’m not so sure
  14. Any primer before applying the MRP?
  15. The smoke rings decals look surprisingly realistic and would be an easy way out when the Italeri Folgore comes along .
  16. One more P-40 in sight . Happy B- day Tolga!
  17. The reactions to this kit on the internet (FB, etc…) tell it all. Rarely have I seen so many newcomers to our hobby choosing this super-scale Spitfire as their first kit. Airfix surely did touch a nerve somewhere.
  18. This is my most relaxing and hassle-free build for a long time, Richard. I can’t see why you should feel differently. Just go for it
  19. Alas we’re all are an obsessed lot, aren’t we?
  20. Let’s say that some are more er… precocious than others
  21. In retrospect, I think that the stock seat was not that bad considering that most the rather flat back will be obscured by the Sutton harness.
  22. INVASION TIME! The D-Day stripes are on. They were wider and located differently than per regulation and thus IMO added a lot of character to the build. Still a lot of weathering and patina to do but you get the idea. Hoping you like the photos and thank you for watching. Cheers, Quang
  23. FWIW the green stuff you refer to used to be known as Duro in figure modelling circles . It dries rubber-like, is very difficult to sand smoothly and nearly impossible to feather. IMO the best way to deal with your problem is …Milliput. (But hey, my friends call me Mr. Milliput )
