  2. Interesting approach on this build...I really like the idea of showing all the "layers" of the Horten... I was thinking of doing a "fade away paint"...going from transparent to wood/metal to camo-paint...but I also really like the idea of "naked" version aswell. How are the ejector pin marks on the clear parts?
  3. Thanks D! I just pre-ordered mine.
  4. No worries Jack, Movies should always be taken as entertainment and not as historical fact. We get hung up on historical accuracy....but movies try to convey feeling and emotion. I want to know how a young man felt.....to be far away from home....to be in harms way.....to be scared but still push ahead.. to feel that you may never make it out alive... When i want historical facts...ill go to library or museum.....Movies will usually say..."Based on a true story "or "true events"... which usually means its not entirely history accurate..
  5. Ehh...It was just meant to inspire you to continue with your build....At least they got the basic shapes of the B-17.. which is more than I can say about the model. In essence it's supposed to remind us that men risked their lives...some died..during risky missions...And that we should never forget that. I'll just delete that post. Perhaps...the Speilberg/Hanks HBO The Men of the Mighty Eighth..will suffice.
  6. So I re-read Martin's(Wingscale) letter about how he was parting ways with his partners in China.(HKM) He had the B-25, B-17, and Meteor...but had to give it to HKM. He stated that he would no longer be involved in the developments of these kits and can not guarantee the outcome of said kits. Could this explain the difference between the accuracies between the B-25 and the B-17? Is HKM just the tooling company that outsources development? Why would they have a third party consult in projects under developement?..Wouldnt they want that to be a closely guarded secret?
  7. HKM....didn't take "the risk" to make this 1/32 scale B-17.. WingScale owned/developed it first.....there was a disagreement between WingScale and manufacturer... WS parted ways before B-17 was finalized. WS developed the B-25...which turned out great.. It makes me wonder how the B-17 would've turned out if WS saw it through to the end?????....hmmm? I get this feeling HkM...are just a manufacturer....who outsources the CAD programming.. Their website is never updated...
  8. Looks like they be releasing a "naked" 1/32 Bf109 in March.
  9. Excellent insight Tim...I just wish the fellows on j-aircraft pulled together and mixed up the paint for us and labelled them accordingly and sold them..If proceeds went to support j-aircraft and the fellows there,,,,then I'd buy it in a sec!
  10. Excellent technique..."Baby"...is beautiful.
  11. I thought that the exhaust stains go around the vents at the bottom of the wings? ...I could be wrong. Yep...there's an article on B-17 exhaust stains on LSP's Tips,Tech section.
  12. Master has a full barrel set for HK's B-17G includes 2 pairs of flash hiders Uschi also has wood decals specific for aircraft aswell...these decals come in various wood types.
  13. Yes Rojas was part of the group..which helped develope HK Models B-17. I like the thermos rack with coffee cup dispenser in his 1/15 B-17.
  14. LSP member ericg is producing a master V-1 rocket in 1/32...I'm not sure if he's ready to produce yet..
  15. Get a Hot Toys Wolverine and you can do the scene in the movie...no seriously....looks like you can use this technology for handling dangerous or hazardous material? or massage theraphy?
  16. YF-23 please...I'm not sure if Zactoman is still persuing it.
  17. Will the locomotive be included in this diorama?..If so....that would be a show stopper!....maybe a teaser pic? lol Oh...will you be doing a winter diorama? that would be too cool.
  18. Has anyone used a spinbrush for cleaning parts?...I was thinking of converting one into a polisher/buffer.....or maybe converting one into a paint mixer? Some people mix their paints with the dremel tool using a piece of wire coathanger with a small bend at the end for mixing...Please use with caution. Test your mixing tool as lowest speed and try mixing plain water to see if your home made tool flings or splatters. if done correctly it should mix without making a mess. Also tires seams can be removed using a drill....Sandwich the tire between two approprate size washers and run a long bolt through tire and washers and chuck it to your drill.....sand with wide emery board Hairdryer or food dyhydrator ......to dry paint quicker. hairdryer to straighten warp resin parts. Heat gun or oven for vaccu-forming or smash forming Photo-copier for scale diorama accessories eg.. signs, posters, magazines, maps..etc Printer for decals
  19. Acra-Mill lets you convert your Dremel into a micro mill or lathe look for it on their accessories page....made from solid aluminum and harden steel http://www.vanda-layindustries.com/index.html
  20. That would be awesome!...Combining 3 of your passions together...Would the wings be dismantled and put on a separate wagon? Of course it would be a pretty long coffee table?
  21. Can't post the link right now...but if you google B-17F CAD image ...you will see HKM's upcoming B-17F
  22.     Agreed Tim...It seems like we are all efforting a solution to this kit..some people are hard at work researching, checking and re-checking. I don't think its fair that these people put in the hard work (Nigel, Bruce, TimC,GaryW) and not be compensated with replacement parts or a new kit..iF HKM CORRECTS these issues for the F...then new buyers are lucky...but where does that leave us...who were loyal and trusting in the beginning....WE were told that we are getting the most accurate B-17G !...We trusted that.... Nigel's hard work....will be fixed with a click of a button and HKM ..they will sell thousands of copies to new buyers??? We feel a little duped with the original review...i think we are all a little upset about it. The B-17G was in developement for over 3 years..now there gonna look into it?
