Monogram had some 1/32 tanks in the past… Maybe manufacturers could average the scales to 1/33.5 so everyone will be happy!? Alain

Rivets…………! A good photo provided the info needed to rivet the fuselage sides. I made a template to add the curved rivet line marked with a pencil line. The finished left wing shows the much better effect with the rivets. Bye for now, Alain

I was just writing about that Gauntlet!

The Finns have a huge and varied collection of aircraft, from every major participant in the European war (maybe not Italy!). They even have a Gloster Gauntlet… So it would be difficult to find out what Airfix was interested in. Alain

Trumpeter F-35C Nose: No amount of lipstick...
Alain Gadbois replied to Marcel111's topic in LSP Discussion
Of course, but I guess they put in a limited time for research and then production with whatever they got. Alain -
Mentioned before but good possibilities: Me 262 Me 110 Corsair Fw 190D P-40 Not probable but would be cool: Tiger Moth Ki-61 Macchi MC 200 (or 202) Beaufighter

That kit would be extremely difficult to pass by unoticed from the wife, sadly! Alain

Have a great flight Max, but don’t forget to check out for that Hun in the sun! Alain PS: That Eau du Nil colour is just so attractive, and the name! Just a petit morceau of French!

Nice start and interesting scheme chosen! Gone is the nice subtle mottling earlier in the war, now just dots all over. The painters didn’t seem to enjoy their work much… Alain -

Bf 109 G-2 of Johannes "Macky" Steinhoff - REVELL - 1/32
Alain Gadbois replied to Furie's topic in Works in Progress
Just be very prudent, by starting very lightly and do multiple passes until the depth you want is reached. I agree with the use of the middle tool, but see if the vertical tail gets in the way. It might be better to scribe from the back to the front. Alain -
Undersize Trump. MiG-21 MF Fuselage?

Of course! Thank you, hope it will not be too long of a wait! Alain -
The infamous new Revell Hurricane kit photo with the drooping wings that sparked a massive controversy here on LSP? Bad joke I guess! Alain Edit: reading your original post so fast, I thought you said the wings did NOT droop on your model, which seemed to mean some camera distortion which lead me to remember the Revell Hurricane first impression of incorrect dihedral. Sorry for all the confusion! And checking the drawings, it appears there is a noticeable anhedral on the MiG, so the model should be fine!

Next time, don’t ask the guy from Revell to take a picture of your airplane! Alain

The Fresco is the MiG-17, But your kit is the F, not the PF. The canopy is wrong in both kits. In the PF kit, the windscreen angle is completely wrong, not being angled back enough. Also the PF nose is of a much larger diameter than the F in order to fit the radar and the intake under it. The kit has you use the F fuselage with a tiny nose ring that is a caricature of the real PF. Alain

Squadron made a vac, but I don’t know if it’s still available, if you haven’t found it. Alain

Undersize Trump. MiG-21 MF Fuselage?
Alain Gadbois replied to Alain Gadbois's topic in Works in Progress
If I manage to finish the correction work before a new MiG-21 kit comes out, I will certainly make it available! » The MF will be first, then the PF and PFM. The base kit will be the MF for the MF and PFM versions, and the F-13 kit for the PF. Alain -
Out of the box, the MF looks better than the F-13, even if the mistakes in the kit are more numerous than in the F-13. Somehow, the undersized nose is so well blended in with the rest that it not so noticeable. The best reference is the WWP (Wings & Wheels Publications) No 7 on the MF/UM variants. I have the walk around No 1, and it is very useful for the early versions. If you have No 2 already, it can be quite sufficient. Good luck with your project. The MiG-17 kit is probably one of the worst Trumpy kits! At least try to get a replacement canopy. Alain

The big problem with the Trumpeter F-13 is the canopy/cockpit area. Curiously, the tub fits in a perfect position, but the cockpit sill should follow the top of the tub sides, but obviously doesn’t! The canopy has a notable inclination forward, but the kit’s fuselage in this area is horizontal. The fuselage exterior as is: With the correction: After this, the clear parts will need trimming: The small clear parts behind will need to be adjusted also, as well as the spine, as it is completely straight all the way to the small clear parts. This will help the overall appearance of the F-13. Mind you, this trimming changes the size of the cockpit opening a bit, so I recommend gluing the canopy in the open position if you don’t want to make more ajustements on the kit. Alain

B7A2 "Grace"; any good references out there?
Alain Gadbois replied to LSP_K2's topic in Aviation Discussion & Research
I guess that, if you have the Monogram book, you have as much info as me. The Grace is a cool looking plane, with the inverted gull wings. The Hasegawa kit looks quite nice, hope your roommate enjoys the build! Alain -

I didn’t know Loch Lomond whiskey existed in real life! Visiting model forums can be very instructive in the most surprising ways! Drink on my friend and enjoy the best that life has to offer! Alain -
Excellent start! The kit decals for the instruments are surprisingly convincing! Alain
