  1. Ok all I need now is someone with computer knowhow to draw a 3d CAD of a lightning access ladder. Leave it with me.
  2. I think we are going off topic here I don't want to buy a 3d printer so I don't care how much they cost I'm just trying to pick someone's brain regarding having a company with a 3d printer to do me a set of lightning access ladders. How would I go about it. Has anyone on here done exactly that. Dave
  3. Just a thought but I'm wondering if this can be done and how. I'm a big EE lightning fan I have 9 completed kits done in various sqdn colours what I don't have are cockpit access ladders. Look at any picture of a lightning and no doubt a ladder will be attached to the side of it. And before any of you suggest the eduard metal ladder no thanks. But now with 3D printers is it possible to have a number of ladders printed in one go? Also what would the people operating the printer need. I look forward to your knowledgeable answers Dave.
  4. Cheers Tony keep me in the loop (you have my email) as I definitely want your updated KEV aircraft decal sheet. Dave.
  5. Thanks to Tony T this is the F4E from the 57th FIS I managed to build. Its the 1/32 Revell kit the decals where printed by Fire Cracker I believe they went down lovely on the model. Again thank you Tony for all your help. Keep it touch as I'd love another set when and if you produce any.
  6. Hi Tony glad you are still contemplating doing the 57th FIS decal sheets. I will keep an eye on this thread as I'm still wanting to do another one. Dave
  7. I agree more ground crew I'd especially like British modern as there are none available at the moment. Would be great for a diorama.
  8. How about some 1/32 RAF ground crew figures there are None anywhere.
  9. Would much prefer a 1/32 Buccaneer , Jaguar, Harrier GR3, Sea Harrier FRS1 & a decent EE lightning. Not more USAF stuff. Opps and a 1/48 vulcan. Dave.
  10. I have a tamiya F4 J and yellowhammer decals for the 74 sqdn jet set aside for a future project I quite like the jet with the tiger painted on the radome so that one will be my choice when I start it. I will watch this thread with eagle eyes. Brilliant Dave
  11. Yes I've refurbished a few in my time in fact I'm refurbishing a Aeroclub Vulcan at this moment in time.
  12. Hi Iain I hope you don't think I was taking a pop at you. Goodness me that wasn't my intention. I love the work you are doing to eradicate the flaws in the Trumpeter kit. I for one are looking forward to its release. Dave
  13. I make the Trumpeter lightning as I'm a massive lightning fan just love the beast. I've displayed at loads of show in the UK and I've never had anyone tell me how wrong it is. Usually I've had nothing but praise and this kit has been slated to death. Most people at shows are the general public anyhow who know sod all about the plane they are looking at never mind if it's 2mm too short. Let's stop going daft about how accurate a kit is and just build it,add aftermarket bits, scratch build an engine anything that makes your model better than the next guys. That's what I do. Happy modelling guys Dave
  14. That would be great chris I would definitely want a set. There is two sets available I believe as they are railway scale we need to know which set would be best for 1/32nd scale. keep me in the loop. And of course cost. Dave
  15. As the title says I'm after a UK distributer of Micromark rivet detail decals sheets. Not Archers fine detail decals. As they are very expensive and a lot smaller. If any one knows of a UK Company please let me know. Thank you Dave
  16. My Trumpeter Lightning F6 XS897 AC 5 sqdn with engine panel open enjoying a day out at Huddersfield Model show Febuary 2015. Dave.
  17. Hi peeps My Lightning F3 is now complete and has been displayed at the Cosford Model show april 2015 ( photo below). Let me tell you what i've done, I've made 3 a\c jacks ( scratch built), a portable scaffold platform and table with tools, (also scratch built) a bin with spare main wheels, a tool cabinet (resin aftermarket), drip trays & odds and sods scattered around the airframe. It was a very enjoyable build and gave me a lot of extra scratch building experience. i dont think I'll be in a hurry to start another extra detailed model any time soon as my very latest model I've just completed is a no frills Lightning F6 XR770 with red fin. See the trumpeter Lightning kit can be made to look quite a show stopper if you want it too. Thank you Dave.
  18. Hi Tony hope you are well. Keep the strap template, I have another. As for it being more complex than a straightforward styrene strap. My answer to that is who let's people pick up their models to look underneath ? Nuff said.
  19. When is the release date ?
  20. Young tiger you are totally right. I made mine using the nautilus as a template I just photo copied the original spray glued to some thin ply and sanded it to shape now I have a template to use when ever I chose. Simples.
  21. I wouldn't bother messing about opening up the two doors. Once it's finished and on display at your favourite show WHO'S GONNA PICK IT UP TO LOOK?. Your doing a great job my friend. Dave
  22. Hi Derek I know you are building out of box and it's for someone else, I have to say you are doing a great job on the kit parts. I personally always use the Aires resin replacement ejector seat. For a mere £5 all u have to do is paint it. They are brilliant. I'm watching this build closely. Dave
  23. A bit inaccurate is an understatement it has to be trumpeter's worst. But as it's the only game in town you have to get on with it. I'm watching this build with enthusiasm as I always do when a big lightning is being built. Hopefully I'll get some tips. Happy building. Dave
