  1. Except for the fact that Tower is on back order. Doesn't matter how low your prices are, if you don't have the item in stock.
  2. Ballanzos_hobby_warehouse on ebay had 7 earlier today for 24.00 + shipping, now he has none. If you want one, jump while the iron is hot
  3. That's interesting, my KH Kingfisher came with the clear parts in separate small box. Do they not do this anymore? I thought it was a good way to prevent damage to the clear parts.
  4. Back after a long foray into HO scale trains. Anyway, anybody know of any aftermarket canopy, vac or clear resin, for the Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-3?
  5. Been away for awhile, got on a model railroad kick, now back to planes, both large and small scale. Anyway, I was checking out the forums, saw this thread, and decided to give it a go, so, yes, I bought the "Corsair" kit. Here's how mine went, Oct 5, marked as shipped, Oct 10, left airport, Hong Kong, Oct 18, received USB cable, contacted seller through Ebay, also Oct 18, reply from seller, made mistake, offered to reship, or refund, Oct 19, requested refund, Oct 20, message from ebay, you have a refund, Yes I took a chance, I didn't have to file a claim through ebay or paypal, refund came from the seller. What surprises me, is that so few have received their USB cable, and gotten a refund, maybe they're just not sayin'
  6. Sure does look like the real thing
  7. This is good to know. Anyone used Mr Surfacer on these parts? If so did it work out OK? One small consolation is knowing Tamiyas replacement parts service is second to none.
  8. There are a multitude of reasons for wanting or needing to decant spray paint for airbrush use, and not just Tamiya spray. Krylon is an excellent, tough, acrylic lacquer, covers well, and inexpensive, but the spray is hard to control out of the can, I wouldn't even attempt to spray bare plastic out of the can, it works great thru an airbrush tho. Krylon Gloss black is a great base coat for the high-shine Alclad finishes, I also used Krylon banner red for a red-tail Tuskegee P-51, and the ultra flat black has got to be the absolute flattest black ever, if you need that sort of thing. For car modellers, Testors makes a fine line of color matched automotive enamels, and lacquers, but their spray cans seem, IMHO, to be a bit short on pressure, not atomizing the paint well leaving an orange-peel effect. Try it, you'll like it
  9. The reason for letting the decanted paint sit, is to allow the dissolved propellent to escape. In the spray can, there are not two distinct layers, propellent and paint, as one would suppose, but the propellent is dissolved into the paint, this is what atomizes the paint, otherwise you would just get a stream, and not a spray out of the can. I know I'm playing with fire, but I have actually decanted, thru the bent straw, small amounts directly into the airbrush cup. still allowing it to sit fro a short while.
  10. Tamiya gloss black spray is good, also Krylon gloss black, decanted and sprayed with an airbrush. For the regular Alclad shades (non high shine) Mr Surfacer spray works good also. I concur with the Alclad black base, funny thing, first time I used the bottle I have, it worked fine, same bottle, a year later, won't dry.
  11. Also available from UMM-USA, http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/products_new.php?page=2&osCsid=faa26215bc915b9657c2cc48ae898741 for those of us in this part of the world. Looked, but couldn't find any built up pics tho. Interesting looking kits, resin, photoetch, wood, metal, have it all.
  12. Try Montex Masks, they have a listing for a Mig 21MF, Mig 21UM, and Mig 21F13. Not familiar with your kit (F-711) so am not sure if any of these will work, but they are masks for interior, exterior and rubber seal. Available from A2Z models http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/mini-mask-sm-series-275-c.asp Reasonable shipping and fast service from the UK, and Alistair is a great guy to deal with.
  13. Don't recall ever building a kit, any subject, with any brand of liquid cement, that I didn't get at least one fingerprint on it somewhere.
  14. Yes I noticed them, once I looked In reality, I was looking to see what the AZ models 1/72 kits were going for, I mainly build in 1/72 scale, for cost and space reasons, but I do dabble in 1/32 a bit, mostly subjects that are interesting to me. I had no idea that a 1/32 Staggerwing kit ever existed, that is why I was curious about this one. I just noticed also that an original ITC kit, with the motor, is on Ebay now, I don't recall seeing it there before, but it has 3 days 19hrs left on it, so it must be a 4 day auction (do they have a 4 day option?)
  15. Oh well, missed it by this much. I put a bid of $25, figured WTH, but got sniped. Guess I'll get the Cleveland plans if I want to build a LS Staggerwing.
  16. "L" is one of the clear sprues, one with the windscreen and instrument lenses.
  17. Thanks Charles, Didn't even think about checking the data base, It's the ITC mold from '62, released in '76. I think I'll pass on this one. I think I'd be better off getting the Cleveland plans (the Platinum series, includes engine and interior detail, scale rib spacing, etc, these really weren't meant as flying models) and "stick and tissue" build this one, after all nothing looks more like frame and fabric then stick and tissue Cleveland plans for this one start at 1/32 scale, and go to 1/4 scale, now that would be a display!
  18. Anybody know anything about this kit? Who makes it, anything else? Looks pretty simple, I don't see much that looks like interior parts, He claims it's complete, but looks like the lower wing has seperate ailerons, and I don't see them. Also don't see any wheel wells, co I guess it's wheels up only. http://cgi.ebay.com/Beechcraft-Staggerwing-Model-Plane-1-32-Scale-/180701033062?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a129ef266
  19. Great job, hope mine comes out half as nice, Hannants has one version as a new arrival, and HLJ has one of the four or so variations shown as in stock.
  20. Sorry guys, seems that my feeble atempt at sarcasm feel flat on its face My statement about the Dragon kit being un-buildable was a poke at those who would say so. I'm sure that even out of the box any of these kits would build into a model that no one would mistake for anything other than a P-51D Mustang, and that most people wouldn't notice anything wrong, no matter how off it was. Anyway, Kevin answered my question. I do have a Tamiya P-51D on order, as a companion to my ZM Ta152H, and was just wondering how the Doyusha kit stacked up to the competition. Not too well it seems.
  21. Ok, We all know the Tamiya P-51D is the ultimate Mustang kit, I have one on pre-order from HLJ myself , and we all know the Dragon kit is "fatally flawed" and un-buildable , and the Trumpeter and Hasegawa kits have serious shape issues. BUT, what about the Doyusha 1/32 P-51D kit? What is it like? I can't seem to find a review or any other information anywhere , and it can be had for about half the Tamiyas price, even with shipping from Hong Kong. I know it won't compare to the Tamiya kit, but what about the others?
  22. From what I understand, Scott's Gators Grip, is an acrylic based adhesive. I use it for clear parts, and it beats any of the so called "clear parts cements" hands down. I use MEK almost exclusively, buy it by the quart at the local hardware store, and keep what I'm using in an old Testors #3502 Plastic Cement bottle, which originally contained, surprise, surprise, MEK. Like everything else, common sense precautions are called for. The bottle does have the warnings, vapor harmful, eye irratant, flammable, use with adequate ventilation, etc. Of course, you will also find the same or similar warnings on enamel paints and Alclad lacquers, which, btw, contains MEK.

Watching this with great interest, wonderful job, can hardly wait to see it finished.
  24. That is truely a well used, war weary machine. With the proper background, one would be hard pressed to tell it from the real thing. Fantastic
