Hi Thor, Just picked up on your thread here, nice work on the cockpit so far, the resin and PE makes such a difference, I wouldn't get too hung up about some of the interiors, seats etc though, they chop and change parts and components that much now that you could never be exact anyway, you can see this effect on exterior pictures of the aircraft with different shades of gray on different panels. Hi Thor, Just noticed the link to one of my Tornado images, have you managed to get a kit yet? I have the Luftwaffe kit in my stash waiting to be started..... I do a lot of low level photography in Scotland but haven't explored up in that area much, it's likely that you saw GR4's from Lossiemouth flying up there, although some 111 squadron F3's have been based at Lossie while the runway at Leuchars was being repaired recently. Nice one Jens, I have stalled on my Beau just now (modellers block). The thought of scratchbuilding the cockpit is the worst part, the start of my build is also somewhere in Members builds, keep going. Rob

Guys, thanks again for your replies, there's a lot of work gone into these! I think I've nearly decided which 603 squadron aircraft to do, the decal info is handy as it looks like I'll need to buy the roundels, stencils and letters separately, I'm going with the MDC correction set and Fred's cockpit set. Looks like the price of the kit is the cheapest part of this project! Rob

Thanks for your replies, I agree wth Keith in that the 'the good points about this kit in my opinion are the spinner is the right shape and the surface detail is one of Revells better efforts also it leaves scope to display the engine if you desire'..... I was thinking of doing a 603 (City of Edinburgh) squadron Mk 1 aircraft, (my local squadron) not sure which one yet. I've checked MDC and this seems a good option for the Mk1 correction set, ie prop blades, exhausts and the Eduard Sutton harness. I've been trawling the archives as well for oletcherfreds cockpit panel but couldn't find it, can anyone help me with this? Also can anyone point me in the direction of decals? Regards Rob

I've just bought an old Revell Seafire Mk1B and I was wondering what modifications this kit would need to make it into a Spitfire Mk 1. Is this possible or not really feasible. Which is the best early marks Spitfire kit out there in 1/32. Rob

I'm sure the Ju88 would be one of the best sellers in 1/32, add a CE cockpit and open cowlings with Jumo 211's on display and you're on to a winner. Just dreaming.

A lot of kit for 12 quid and fairly accurate shape, but not a lot of AM stuff about, search for Beaufighter in Member builds and you should see my project although it has stalled at the moment, modellers block and all that! Regards Rob

Thanks for the comments, they are the kit engines, I'm still contemplating whether to leave the cowlings off for a diorama, I still need to add wiring and engine mounts if I show them off. I sprayed the engines gloss white then a quick wash with black, I still need to wash them again and then finish off by drybrushing. Rob

Thanks Sean, great pics, I'm not an expert on the Hercules radials in Beaus but I think the earlier engines exhaust pipes exited forward in to the collector ring which is positioned just inside the cowling at the front, as the pic on the second link shows, whereas on the later type engines the exhaust pipes bend through 180 degrees and exit towards the rear of the engine, can anyone confirm this? This is a continuation of my Beau build from the Tips and Techniques section on scribing, now I've got my MDC riveter I'll spend some time practicing before I start on the Beau. Here are some images of the Hercules engines, exhaust holes drilled ready for the manifolds, I'm looking for some clear shots of the manifolds and collector ring, can anyone help, no decent pictures in my SAM datafile. Next post should have the outer wings scribed and the oil cooler grilles in place. Rob

Hi jetmex, I do have one, didn't realise it was so much like the Spit. The panel lines and rivet detail look quite good on this, I would assume a lot of the Spitfire aftermarket stuff would fit this also. I could start collecting this stuff bit by bit and eventually go for a fully detailed kit. Regards Rob

I think derek b's advice is good, just build it for pleasure, I 've scribed panel lines on the wing sections so far and about to tackle the fuselage, once it's all scribed I'll post some pics, thank you all once again, I'll need to try hunt down some of that aftermarket stuff! Rob
