  1. Once again Robin, exemplary workmanship. It is a pleasure to see your creations. Thank you for taking the time to share your scratch-built masterpieces here. Cheers.
  2. I do like the look of the two-seat Su- Great work so far.
  3. Hi Iain, A very cunning plan indeed and a super improvement to the look of th Revell kit. The thing is, with what you and Derek are doing to correct this kit I'm feeling exhausted. I don't know if I've got the energy to build mine. Stick with it, it certainly looks better than it did. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the overlapping panels. Cheers.
  4. Hi Pete, Hope you're keeping well bro'. I wondered if you'd had any chance to work on this bad boy? (Or any of your other stuff?) Cheers.
  5. Hi Ron, Sorry to read of your woes but I'd like to thank you for alerting everyone to the LEX shape issue. I had never noticed it but now I'll be aware of it if I ever get around to the Hornet I have in my meagre stash. Cheers.
  6. This is very exciting Robin. Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. You appear to have achieved a very smooth finish, congratulations. I'm eager to see what you do next. Cheers
  7. All of this talk about Hasegawa spinners has reminded me that I still had an old Hasegawa box in the loft with one or two spare parts in it. Now that I've had a look I've discovered not only a blunt spinner but a four bladed version too. (The blades don't look very good though) In addition to that I've also now got dished five spoke wheels, alternative fishtail exhausts, a different bubbly canopy and armoured windscreen, all in one tail wheel, some cockpit controls if I so desire and two pilots! Very grateful to you blokes for jogging my memory, Cheers. Edit: Also, have a gander at these shots which clearly show the little glass window in the fuel tank area. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Supermarine-300-Spitfire/2278714/L/&sid=e2a082c4d6d306957b1aceedcd76bf49 http://www.airliners.net/photo/Supermarine-300-Spitfire/2270526/L/&sid=9a8f6d92e07902a6b72dbcc16964708e http://www.airliners.net/photo/Supermarine-300-Spitfire/2005645/L/ HTH
  8. I can't say "Baccaruda". Well, try saying this: "bah" Bah "rah" Rah "coo" Coo "dah" Dah. Now put 'em all together..... Bah bah rah rah coo coo dah dah! Well, it ain't Barracuda man, but I think we got a hit record..... Could n't resist. In other news, any reports on when the update sets for the Revell Spitfire will be released please? Cheers.
  9. Hi Iain, whilst browsing through some reference photos I stumbled across the image below and thought it interesting and somewhat pertinent to this modification. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Supermarine-349-Spitfire/2175294/L/ Pay close attention to the shadow cast on the area in question. I can't help wondering if Revell used something similar as their master when drawing up this model. I expect I'll consider a similar route to the one that you've taken as I'm sure the vast majority of Spitfires are hollower at the wing root but......if the restored BM597 is on your list you could leave that particular facet of the kit alone. Keep up the good work. I'm following along keenly. Cheers.
  10. Lovely work Jean-Luc. Very crisp and clean. Good job.
  11. ...or me. Splendid, splendid, splendid.
  12. Hi Robin, The instumentation looks very good. She's taking shape gradually. Nice work so far, keep it up. Cheers.
  13. Hello folks. I managed to finish this one off. In accordance with Andy's recommendations I kept the weathering to a minimum. I also managed to cope with the decal so no drama on this occasion. I did, however, manage to knock the resin handle off so the one you can see is scratch built from wine bottle foil. Cheers.
  14. Here's how the finished articles look. I masked and painted the "reflective" bands using Valejo silver grey. Weathering was a mix of pastel powders and water colour pencils. Does anyone know what either "SFS" or "ECA" would mean in relationship to airport marker cones please? those abbreviations are offered on the decal sheet but I don't know what they stand for. Cheers.
  15. Hi folks, I was browsing the AeroBonus category on Hannants website just now and spotted this in future releases: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/QAB320059 It might be worth considering for the new Revell Mk IIa. Cheers.
  16. Beautifully crisp work Dave. The nose ring is particularly noteworthy. Very "bling". Did you have any issues when masking the nose ring for the black anti-glare panel? I've read that Alclad II Chrome is quite fragile. Cheers.
  17. That intake cover is totally cool. Great idea FunkyZeit, thanks for sharing. May I ask, did you paint the glove or was it red to begin with? Additionally I'd like to add my congratulations on a stunning model. Great job. Cheers. Edit: Whoa! Just read back a page or two and discovered that you've only been modelling for a year. That makes this even more spectacular. I repeat, great job!
  18. Nice idea onosendai. Will you include placement instructions with your decals? Also, is the Dash60 still in use and now painted grey? If so, do these decals still work on that scheme? Thanks for the heads-up. Cheers.
  19. Hi skiner, nice work on the wheel bays. The forum software re-sizes the images so they all look the same on my monitor. I can click the photos for an enlarged view but initially they all look the same. Cheers.
  20. Crikey! This just keeps getting better and better. Marvellous work Robin. The clarity of the canopy looks perfect on my monitor Robin. Good job sir. Cheers.
  21. Neat job Iain. PM me your snail mail and I'll get the squadron decals in the post. Cheers.
  22. Hello Robin, Thank you for sharing your build with us. This will be fascinating and entertaining. I shall follow your progress closely. Cheers.
  23. Hi Carl, thanks for the heads-up and link. It looks superb in the images. I wonder if Roy has any plans for cockpit detail sets in a similar way to his Mustang sets? I'll keep my eyes open for updates and prices. Cheers.
  24. Beautifully sharp work Robin. Magnificent. This bodes extremely well for the Chipmunk. Im even more enthused now. Good job and thanks for sharing. Cheers.
