  1. Thanks for the feedback. Slow progress as I have been travelling a lot lately. I bought a couple of GBU-24's from Eduard. Kits in themselves and quite fragile (having broken two of the tail fins already). This is not the best shot but at least you can see some progress. More later this week when I am back at home.
  2. Grand job. I had a crack at converting the Trumpy F3 to a F1a some years back. Managed to get most of the cockpit complete but then got bogged down in all of the other fixes I was attempting on the Lightning. This was the build http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=22920&st=0 There is also this link to a EE Lightning F1a cockpit being sold with piccies of the cockpit. Regards,
  3. Wonderful work and explanations. Looking forward to the next installment!
  4. Just checked my post from a few years ago on the Trumpy Lightning and it is Warpaint plans that they match.
  5. Fantastic work all round - the scratch building and the painting.
  6. One last quick update before I start my travels. Some more progress on the tanks and pylons.
  7. Very nice - I have one of these on the stash and one day I might actually build it!
  8. Spray paint on - masking tape off. I am actually really pleased with how the walkways turned out. I think the Mr Surfacer stippling was actually quite effective. And finally some small areas masked and painted
  9. Thank you for your kind comments. I have been through masking hell tonight (I HATE masking) do all of the walkways. Looking at the DACO book there are quite obviously a number of ways of doing this and it varies from one aircraft to another. I therefore just copied the layout that was printed on the decals. As you may know there is some sort of non-skid material applied on the actual airframe - I chose to simulate this by stippling Mr Surfacer 500. Not sure how this is going to work out but I guess I will find out when I apply paint. Painting on the menu for tomorrow night - walkways, touch ups, engines etc etc. Need to keep on a roll as I am off with work again on Sunday to LA then Frankfurt and then Japan over the next four weeks. This will not leave much time for modelling when I am home for a day or two in-between travels.
  10. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. Managed to do a number of things over the last 24 hours - make hay why the sunshines! Fuel tanks first - I noticed in the DACO book that the two "caps" on the fuel tanks - one is a lighter gray and the second is steel and red. I made a mask first with the Waldron punch and die set Sprayed and the larger "cap" painted Games Workshop Mithral Silver. Ready to spray red Done. The top tank has been weathers and the panel lines etc outline with HB pencil I noticed some glue splats on the nose after I had mixed and sprayed the radome tan so I got that ready for repair. The windscreen (which has caused me so many problems due to my own incompetence) also needed some repairs. I also noticed in the DACO books some of the weathering on the AN/ALQ-165 radar warning antenna. Base coat first. Then Maskol and painted and removed! More work tomorrow. Lots of masking now required for walkways and various other parts that need spraying. [/url]
  11. More shots of the main body. More tomorrow - not getting ready to paint the radome, gun and other details.
  12. After work had taken over any modelling for the last 10 months I finally spent sometime in the paint booth for a few hours the last couple of days. Lots more to do but I am quite pleased with the start. Everything is post shaded. More shots to come later.
  13. Awesome model, base and finish! What is next on your build pile?
  14. Well as Frank won his case with Revell over a facet that was unique to his vac-form model and not the Hunter I do not think it is alleged.
  15. Bruce, I am off to Japan on holiday on May 14th and will be visiting the ZM store in Akihabara (VOLKS Store). Let me know what figures/accessories you want and I will pick them up and send them to you. You can settle with me afterwards. Regards,
  16. Anyone looking at the video with Chrome there is a problem that for some reason you have to wait for the complete video to cache before it will play. In the meantime all you see is the blue "Q" for quicktime. Testing on my hotel wireless it took 5 minutes before the video started playing. I am looking to do a fix when I am back in the UK in a week or so.
  17. I didi the T4 cockpit master for the 1/32nd Whirlybird kit. If you look down this WIP you will see the cockpit pretty complete. I also have the bulkhead complete as I managed to get some really good shots of the T5 in Thundercity. http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=34720&hl= I gave this to Whirlybirds for free and the same offer goes to you Derek if you want it at the point your conversion is complete. Regards,
  18. Yes the Buccaneer ZU-BCR has flown a number of times. Lightning T5 started first flights mid January.
  19. Did you get this to work? It is best on Chrome on PC and Safari on Mac? Regards
  20. Hi, This took a little longer that expected! Here is the HD footage from both outside and inside the cockpit of ZU-BCR through the mountains in Cape Town and out across the sea over Robben island and finally doing a fast break and run in at Cape Town International. A hell of a ride! http://www.thebuccaneeraviationgroup.com/BuccaneerWebTest/Buccaneer_ThunderCity_Visit/Entries/2014/1/24_Crewing_Buccaneer_ZU-BCR.html Enjoy!
  21. HpH certainly had several Hornets at the show today and I was luckily enough to pick one up for £148.00. I have to say it looks amazing in the box and this has been a dream of mine for a long time. IMHO the Hornet is the most beautiful prop plane ever built.
