Hartmann352 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Here is my choice, not sure of how the decals will be, so that might be item that gets changed out. Besides, I'm toying with the idea of an Atlantic bird. Cheers, Dave
Daywalker Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Excellent choice! Bonus points for the Atlantic scheme!
AndersN Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Cool! Nice choice! Matchbox kit, right? I built that almost 30 years ago... Cheers
Hartmann352 Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Matchbox..not sure, haven't poked around it's innards yet, but I will. See what turns up. Okay, would really like to do an Atlantic bird, but all I can find is VS-37. Was that it? we the SBDs primarily relegated to Pacific duty? Cheers, Dave
LSP_Kevin Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Yeah, it's the old Matchbox kit. Revell acquired most of their 1/32 moulds some time after Matchbox disappeared. I'm pretty sure they've all made a comeback in Revell boxes except for the Bf 109E, which I presume they don't have. Good to have you on board Dave. I have an original Matchbox boxing ('bagging', actually) of this kit, so I'll be interested to see how it goes together for you. Kev
Hartmann352 Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) Okay, late to the party here...threw down some pain this evening. But first, for Anders. (Hmm, that's the year my wife arrived into the world.) Paint on a 'tree". Did some reaming. A before and after shot, top has been treated, the bottom, not at that time. And then...Oooo pretty. Minor assembly. (Yes, I know, needs more work.) Until next time gents...(I'm presuming that all here are male, please correct me if I am wrong.) Cheers, Dave Edited July 3, 2012 by Hartmann352
Out2gtcha Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Good stuff on a challenging kit. I think my dad got me this kit, when I was a kid. I remember the original Matchbox box and artwork.
xmh53wrench Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Too cool, the red inside the dive brakes and flaps is certainly different and striking....Great start!!

Okay, how many here went and saw Star Wars that year? (This year is the 35th Anniversary or it's release.) Oh BTW...if anyone has a good pic of the engine that they could put up here for me that would be Awesome! Cheers, Dave Edited July 3, 2012 by Hartmann352
Out2gtcha Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I went to see it.....................and for whatever reason, I really remember the experience. I was 6.

I did and the best part, it was a school trip. I think my entire grade school went to see it that day. Back to the main attraction, great progress so far on the kit. I was expecting the Trumpy version initially but great to see this one too. Carl

Oh, Hey, Frank...you wee we have another Wisconsinite on here? EvanAugust, from Platteville. Man, seeing that Star Destroyer come into view, I was awestruck! About the Trumpy..out of the budget, and not already in the stash. I did build a Trumpy Corsair...The R-2800 that Trump makes is a kit all by itself. I'll build Trump. but I try to stay away from the radial engines for now. Oh , and, after actually looking at the decaling part of the instructions, I have markings for a USMC Atlantic bird that was based in the Caribbean. WHEW!
