Some more dryfitting and preliminary assembly on the engine nacelles.

I dropped the idea to use the kits propellors, they were too ragged afterall, and it seems that Combatmod. just copied the props and engine fronts from the old revell Vought Corsair, so i had some of these laying around and decided to use them.

Ye know.....i'm slow on building so bear with me for more detail shots....

This is looking sooo cool Jack! What an awesome aircraft. Looks like all the parts will go together nicely too. This is going to be good!

Hi, thanks for your comments, but don't get your hopes up too high, since i expect to have "some" difficulties joining that big wing to the fuselage.

I think i'll have to use some sort of reinforcement at the wing root, because the big spar alone will not hold it up enough i fear.

I do have the right dihedral though, because of the spar, and as you might notice the spar is attached to a "former" bulkhead so it'll have some firm hold inside the fuselage.

I skipped the aft cockpit, but retained the already fixed bulkheads.

Well, on with the gearbays, that should also be a "fun" part.....

cheers,

J.

Wow, that is going to be a lovely model Jack. I used to really enjoy watching the preserved one fly at Duxford - one of my favourite performers. Good luck.

jack,

U got a good start there and u'll love when u get her done.Got two built as to the nightfighter versions. One is a -2N and the other is a -3N with that nose with the bump on the bottom on it.One thing i'll let u in on as to the wheels and tires.I used 48th scale B-17 tires as to the tread on them and used model car wagon spoked rims that fit well inside the tires. The tricky part is that node strut. But i think u can handle it alright and same for the main gear legs as well.

And one thing also.Watch out for the canopy.Mine really fitted right and had to heat them alittle to have them fit over the rear cockpit so one can see inside.Ohter than that.U'er looking good for doing u'er cat.Larry

Thanks for the tips Larry, i must admit i had a quick look at your Cat on LSP, and though i didn't use the Thunderbolt engine, i'm satisfied with the Corsair's.

Had to adjust the front a little bit but most of it is conceiled inside the cowl anyway.

I don't have the 1/48 Fortress myself, so i'll have to get the mainwheels from another kit, i'll manage....

And on the second cockpit: i'm not doing that one, i closed it up, more or less like in the real aircraft by putting back the already cut out panels which i still had laying around.

i'll keep you posted,

regards,

Jack.

Jack,

This may help as to doing the main wheels and tires.Should have said something to the first reply. If u do not have any 17 tires. Then if u have anyhting laying around that would fit the dia. of the ones on the plans for the cat.Thta would help also.If u don't.I think i can dig up a couple for u.Larry

Looking good so far Jack!

Larry has given me the Vac bug and I think it has improved my regular IM kit building as to scratching the parts that just need more detail

or just aren't correct to begin with.

Just a few resin mods, a vac, and that led to major scratchbuilding projects.

Vacs are a "good thing"

Ok, ...as usual running behind schedule, must be the slowest builder ever, but to catch up on some progress on the Tigercat:

Found some time in detailing both maingear housings, lots of piping and gadgets in the real ones, too much of a hassle to imitate it completely, so i'll do some improvising and just winging it as i build along......

more pics to follow....

oops you've got to excuse the poor pic quality...
