Lars Befring
Hi! If you ever wondered how to arm your Iranian Air Force F-14 and you have run out of AIM-54s. Wonder no more! Do as the Iranians did and hang one or two Raytheon HAWKS under it =) As it happens I can provide you with those Hawks! They are available from my Shapeways shop (in 1/48 scale as well, but who cares, right?) https://www.shapeways.com/product/QZHTAHBND/hawk-mim-23b-missile-in-1-32?optionId=61879572 For those wanting to take a closer look on images of the 3D model they can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/iiyFv And if you want to read more about the story behind this there is some information here: http://theboresight.blogspot.se/2015/08/iran-satellites-and-tomcats.html (scroll down a bit) /Lars dutik
Scotsman
That's an great option, I've seen pics of the Hawk install , and it looks so out of place on the F-14 , it provides an excellent point of interest ColinR Lars Befring

Tomcatfreak
47 Dollar for ONE missle?
Lars Befring
I know! before I hollowed out the Wings it was 52! If you can accept a slightly pepplier surface (and a bit more work to get a perfect finish) you can choose "Frosted Ultra Detail" instead of "Frosted Ultra Detail" the price drops to 66% of the higher price... and is IS a big missile Tomcatfreak
Tomcatfreak
Okay, I will think about it :-) Lars Befring
Lars Befring
\o/ \o/ I could ad a version made for their "White Strong & Flexible" but that would be sans panel lines and the fins would be thicker... and it would need some serious amount of surface filler and polish Interested? Tomcatfreak
Does the IRIAF Alicats have a special pylone for this weapon? Or can I use the AIM-54 pylone from the kit?
Lars Befring
you should be able to use the Kit pylon, the Iranian did. If you check the images of their hawk armed Cats you can see that the missiles hung a bit further back than the Phoenix did, matching the missiles nose curve to the existing pylon Vandy 1 VX 4 and Tomcatfreak
Youngtiger1
Nice addition to the 1/32 F-14. I have decals to make the Iranian Tomcat but I'm not sure I'll spend $100 for two missiles. If you know how, you should make a mold of your 3D copy and create resin copies. It might lower the cost. Just a thought. Harold
Lars Befring
Do you think there would be enough demand to justify a cast-run?
Darren Howie
Wouldnt a cast version based off the Shapways prototype be like a heap cheaper? Great idea for a release but the orice is a major stumbling block so a way to produce them in numbers other than via shapeways ie cast iff your original will net you far more orders than trying to sell shapeways ones. Great idea and nice looking Cad! Harold
