Bill_S
I just received this set in the mail in preparation for my Rex build. It appears there's a lot that can be used from this sheet. Is anyone interested in a review? AndersN

Bill_S
Give me a day or two, Kev. Is there any particular format you'd like?
LSP_Kevin
It depends on how you're planning to publish it, Bill. My ultimate goal, as always, is to publish as much content on the website as possible, so whether you send it directly to me, or post it here in the forums, my aim will be to put it into the Reviews database. For that, I simply need the text (in an email or attached as a Word document, etc), and images - again, attached to an email, with desired placement within the article (if any) annotated in the text. Whatever you do, DON'T embed the photos in a Word document! For content that's published here on the forums initially, I usually just scrape it from the forums posts. It's a bit more work, but not really a problem. Kev

Is anyone interested in a review? Most definitely! I would want the same set for my SB set and my mid-wing George Rev kit........................ BTW, did you ever get a chance to look at the SB cowl? The lip really looks quite too fat to me, and will need to be shaved/sanded down to that more familiar "knife edge" type shape of the Rex cowl. Out2gtcha
I just looked at the cowl, and I see what you mean. Some thinning in that area to be sure! I dont think it will be a huge deal to fix, but was just making sure it wasnt just my copy of the SB conversion that was like that. If you notice any other shape issues, please do let us know. dodgem37
I think there were 4 Rex's including the prototype. So the cowl may be of another aircraft. Sincerely, Mark
Out2gtcha
I think there were 4 Rex's including the prototype. So the cowl may be of another aircraft. Sincerely, Mark The prototype had the 2 contra-rotating 2 blade props, but AFAICT, even with the two 2 blade props, the spinner was roughly the same size(ish) and the cowl had the same "knife edge" type shape to it that production models had; at least from pictures. From all the documentation I have all models seem to have the same shape. I might be off on that, but thats the way it appears from the documentation. dodgem37
One had the cowling and spinner like the contra-rotator and another had an air inlet on the cowl top and one looked like a typical 'George' nose and spinner. Maybe yours has the air inlet on top? I can post pics and line drawings later if you like. Sincerely, Mark Out2gtcha
Bill_S
Here is the cowl supplied with the SB conversion. Is it possible that they rounded it to prevent breakage in transit?
Out2gtcha
Yup, same as mine. The prototype that I want to build out of the SB conversion has relatively the same looking cowl lip shape as the production single 3 bladed variants:
Out2gtcha
I think the way Im tempted to proceed, is to sand the back side of that rounded cowl lip, to get a clean rough surface, then back fill (seem "MUSH" here) something like Milliput or other into the backside of the lip to fill it completely. Then let it thoroughly dry and harden up, then you can sand/shape/fill/sand to get the prototypical knife edge rounded on the bottom/outside flat on the inside look. It also appears from my vantage, that the outside of the forward half, or maybe 1/3 of the cowl, does not arc/slope down or close down into a smaller opening like the 1:1 does. Hope that make sense. Basically, it looks like the SB cowls sides are too perpendicular toward the forward edge, when things should taper down into a smaller opening.
