Thunda Posted April 13, 2017 Share Posted April 13, 2017 Hi All, as the title suggests, wondering if anyone has any tips for final cleaning up of the canopy after the frame has been painted? I want to get rid of the sticky residue left by masking tape, handling etc, but Im worried about using thinners etc in case it damages the clarity. Any advice would be appreciated.... Sparzanza Posted April 13, 2017 Share Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) I had this issue on my Tamiya 1/48 Dornier Do-335 Pfeil just the other day, after removing the Montex masks. I used a cottonbud dipped in T-röd (really strong alcohol) and, after removing excess liquid, I just rubbed the residue off gently. Though I suppose this is a bad idea if you've been using acrylic paint... it does remove Humbrol enamel as well (!) but only if you give it a proper scrubbing. Old Dog Posted April 14, 2017 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Alcohol is not a good choice if you used Future on the canopy as it will remove or at least soften it.
