mustang1989
Thought I would build a garage for a place to take pictures of some of my finished builds. I started off with this Antique Garage Set and really don't know what I was expecting but the wood floor looks too new and the side walls were the same way. All laminated card stock. I know better. Anyways , here's the garage kit: and then the shop tools: I'm going to revamp the flooring with some fancy tile floor: and go with some real walls instead of the paper wood grain walls. We'll see where the imagination goes from there. Edited February 18, 2018 by mustang1989 LSP_K2, Shaka HI, Girlscanplay2 and 2 others
mustang1989
Something tells me that this Mustang build that I'm doing is going to take a while so I'm going to have to have this build to fill the gaps when I hit the difficult areas on the Stang. mustang1989
I acquired this 1/24 scale Snap-On toolbox with molded in tools. If it's one thing that I can't stand it's molded in details like this in the larger scales. My aim is to cut the hutch off of the top of the box thereby making it the traditional "taco wagon" tool box. I'll place a laptop on the top of the box with some miscellaneous items / tools on there as well. Gazzas
Wow. Gotta admit I never even thought that such a kit existed. Nice project! Gaz mustang1989
mustang1989
There's more where that came from Gaz. I'm finding that there's a whole world of items that are available in the auto model building world. LSP_K2

Oh yes. I've gone as far as to draw up the CAD design for my own photo backdrop/garage scene, but haven't cut any plastic for it as of yet. I really like that Snap-On tool chest though, I'll have to hunt one down for myself. mustang1989

mustang1989
I left off with a tool box that still had a tool hutch on it. However I did NOT like the molded in tools and I'm not a big fan of a "hutch" installed on the tops of these style of boxes. To begin with the kit supplied tool box I 1.) don't like that style of box and 2) it aint a Snap-On box and 3.) I cannot stand those molded in tools as it looks waaaay cheap. I like the "taco wagon" style boxes so this was the only one I saw that was a Snap-On box so I set out to make a change. I cut the hutch off and sanded the top of the box smooth so one couldn't tell there was ever a hutch there to begin with. LSP_K2
Right now my real tools are scattered all over the place in small toolboxes and bags, so later this year (and perhaps into next), I'll be snatching some roll around tool cabinets, to hopefully get all of my tools into one place. mustang1989

I'd go plumb nuts if all my tools were all over the place. lol. But then again I don't even like it when my tool box gets dirty. LSP_K2
Given that you're a gear-head mechanic, I can certainly understand that, Joe. Me, I'm just your average handyman about the house, so my tools, even though I have quite a few, or more generic in nature, and not so many of them. Believe it or don't, one of the handiest tools I've bought in quite a while, has been my Ridgid impact driver; I seem to use it all of the time around here. mustang1989 and Girlscanplay2
LSP_K2
One of my neighbors from many years ago, was a Snap-On sales rep, and he had the most impressive collection of automotive tools that I'd ever seen. mustang1989
mustang1989
That is a handy little tool right there Kevin. Good for getting into tight places with that one. I've seen alot of toolboxes through the years and there were a few that still stick out in my mind that stick out as impressive. I definitely know what you're talking about.
