Called up Tamiya USA INC., and ordered a new sprue with a Tamiya Mustang windscreen: TAMIYA AMERICA, INC. 36 Discovery #200 Irvine, CA 92618 Phone: (800) TAMIYA-A Fax: (949) 362-2250 Customer Service Hours: M-F, 8am.- 5pm. PST 1/32nd P-51D Mustang windscreen, kit No. 22 Clear sprue "L" - windscreen (not sure on the canopy sprue # for the early canopy, but it wouldn't be any different ordering that as well) When I called them up and they told me how much it was going to be for clear sprue "L" for the windscreen I ordered two. It was $3.50 USD or so for sprue L. $12.00 USD something for X2 L sprues including shipping. It cant be that much harder to affix the Tamiya windscreen and canopy than the Revell one it sounds like, + you know it will be 100 times more clear than its Revell counterpart......... The German company is Revell GmbH, and the US company was Revell, Inc. Bolleaux. The Tamiya part is a wee bit longer so you'll need to remove plastic at the aft end of the opening for it. You 'could' remove it from the front end but the rear would be simpler. We're talkin' about .007" / .177mm. The Tamiya plastic is significantly thinner too so seating the part is a little more precarious. Nothin' you can't handle Brian. You took off material off of the windscreen at the aft end by the cockpit opening, not by the front where it blends in with the forward fuselage correct? First, I haven't done it but I have both kits and tried it to see what the fit was like. I wouldn't sacrifice a Tamiya windshield for the Revell kit but your option sounds interesting. You need to take the material off of the 'opening' itself at the aft end. Just elongate the opening a small amount. Like I said it's about .007" (you'll see).
