drhornii
Working on the HK 1/32 B-25J (321st GB in Mediterranean theater)and my subject is NMF except for the tails which is green with a red top cap. My question, is the green & red tail color only applied to the outboard portion or is it green & red on the inboard section as well? I am seeing a lot of restored aircraft that show the outboard section painted and inboard NMF but references are scarce for some reason.
coogrfan
I found a few pics here: http://www.historyofwar.org/pictures_USAAF.html#321stBG This one would seem to indicate that the inboard sections were painted. coogrfan
An excellent shot of a couple of B-25's from the same unit as "Big Jamoke" (447th BS/321st BG). https://www.americanairmuseum.com/archive/unit/321st-bomb-group Edited February 26, 2023 by coogrfan John1, nmayhew, Martinnfb and 1 other 2
nmayhew
Things to note: wings look pretty grubby around the engines, which is to be expected; but also how faded the wing star and bars are, compared to the fuselage ones. great pic, thanks for posting coogrfan and Martinnfb

The ones that were OD on top and NMF on bottom do appear to have tails painted on the inside as you indicate. With the Big Jamoke, it was all NMF with green tail. I went ahead and painted only the outboard OD and red tail cap red on both sides. The people that will be viewing it will likely be bar patrons at Marshall brewing in Tulsa Oklahoma. The father of my friend Dave Marshall (son is brew master) flew the Big Jamoke and they have a beer called the Big Jamoke. Thanks for the help! coogrfan and MikeMaben
