Hobby Boss B-24J as a PB4Y-1?

Recommended Posts

As the subject alludes, I'm interested in making a Pacific-based PB4Y-1 out of the HB B-24J that I have in the stash.  In researching, I've found several mentions that at least some of the early nose-turreted aircraft that were delivered to the Navy had the A6A turret.  Yet I'm striking out in finding actual period reference photos to back it up.  I've found at least one photo of a Privateer with the A6A, so, there's that.

I guess ultimately, my question is this: Is a PB4Y-1 with an A6A turret remotely feasible for a Pacific VB/VP squadron and paint scheme?

Thanks, Jennings.  I picked up the first one and it arrived today.  While the ERCO turret was more prevalent by far, the book does show at least a few photos of the tri-tone blue without it.  I don't recall what model turrets are in the kit off hand, but I think this is enough grounds to say that a non-ERCO nose turret w/tri-tone Pacific blue camouflage is feasible.
