mozart
Will do Guy, today's "adventures" have been hit and miss so I'll post more tomorrow. Max
Bill_S
Max, you use the setting agent on the surface or on the transfer? Glad it's working for you! I've only used the HGW rivets, but it's the same technology. I apply setting solution to the surface of the part.
mozart
Guy, I've put some details in my Spitfire build thread. Max
Fenous
Do not use setting solution, use the softening one instead, it`s stated in HGW instructions and I can assure you from my own experience it works.
mozart
Thank you Fenous, I'll try with the different agent! Max
Warbird
Hi, I used the same set on my Spitfire and I think that your surface is not glossy enough. I had same problems than yours on a semi-gloss surface, and zero problem on a gloss surface. Cheers
mozart
Thanks for your thoughts Warbird, all advice is welcome. In fact the stencils that I applied yesterday on my semi-matte surface have worked perfectly. I'm using Microsol today as Fenous suggested and the one point of improvement that I've found straightaway is that Microsol sits well on the surface of the paint whereas Microset tended to "ball" like a resist would. It'll be a couple of hours before I take off the carrier film but I'm hopeful! Max
ade rowlands
Sorry for my ignorance but is the microsol going on the model surface before the decal is applied or on the decal backing after it's been placed on the model surface? I have a couple of spitfire and 109 sets to use myself.
Fenous
Microsol first, than the decal, suck excess Microsol with paper tissue or Q-tip and smooth it out with Q-tip, than wait, I left it usually overnight.

Worked very well, thanks Fenous. The first benefit with the Microsol is that it brushes onto the paint surface and stays there whereas Microset tends to bead. Firm pressure when bedding in helps and, I agree, leaving overnight. Max
