  1. Theres an Avanti that takes off , flies over our little town round in a loop and goes back. It sounds like nothing else , kind of like a Stuka siren! Both great looking planes
  2. Blimey there really is limited vision from the invader isn't there.
  3. Oh this is getting silly now. Could this be the most poorly designed kit ever??? There was me happily getting on assembling my kit , hoping to just ignore the innaccuracies , and then i look on this thread and realise something else is wrong! aarrggh. Oh well nevermind , scribed on inner flaps it is then. I must stop looking on here ,its making my brain starting to think about a counter invader too! Any ideas on what you will do about pylons amongst other things Iain? On the plus side , out of the box it builds really nice so far and the detail is actually OK.
  4. I was just looking through my kit. Its a bit confused isnt it. The canopy is suitable for an early B but then theres no ventral turret. The dual cockpit and control wheels appear to be a dead ringer for the B-26K. I was going to just build this straight from the box and stuff all of the inaccuracies , but now im in two minds.
  5. I sometimes put a small blob of very thinned tamiya rubber black and then blow it up close. It looks like a proper oil run.
  6. Excuse my ignorance , but what does the A and the J stand for on the jolly rogers early f-14 tail please? Ta
  7. A friend of mine said he had a kit from either Hasegawa or Revell in 1/32 that had french markings for indochina in the box. I think it may have been the oscar but i may be wrong. Anyone got any idea which kit it mayhave been please?
  8. Thanks guys. my mind is starting to wander back to lsps now!
  9. This lockdown situation gave me a little more time to do some modelling. I have given up on 1/32 and 1/24 i think. I keep buying them , then loads of aftermarket , starting them , getting bored with them and selling them on. Time for a change. I want to build good quality models , that actually fit on a shelf. I will not be using aftermarket if i can help it. I have been getting more into the Pacific Theatre and so have decided to go with planes from that. I will be sticking to Accurate miniatures or italeri , Tamiya and Hasegawa. I really dont have the patience for poor fitting kits anymore. This kit has really bought the fun back into modelling. Beautifully detailed and easy to build. I have a great time just building from the box. The problem is i think i need the rest of the F4U line now! Apologies for pics i took them on my Iphone
  10. In an interview i read McCampbell said that he usually carried either rockets or bombs when he flew. Does this mean Minsi would have had the bomb racks fitted all the time or would they be removed if rockets were fitted? Apologies if this is a simple question , but im not that clued up on aircraft weaponary. Ta
  11. Great. Thanks for sharing.Like most of us i have a real soft spot for monogram.
  12. Duxford. Its bigger and as others have said its a live museum , theres always something going on. I still really like Hendon. We went recently and they have improved the lighting , which makes it a different place IMO , much better than it was. Shame they took the battle of Britain display away though. Having said that , all of the planes that were in that hall are now in another hall so you can see them much more clearly.Wellington is now at Cosford.
  13. Thanks Dave , thats great.
  14. Is this the right part or am i getting confused? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GMAC3201-1-32-SCALE-P40-EXTENDED-TAIL-HASEGAWA-P40-KIT-AFTER-MARKET/223253968161?hash=item33faf93521%3Ag%3Ao74AAMXQNo5Tanoz&_trkparms=pageci%3Abf2f7395-49ce-11ea-b3d6-74dbd180b048|parentrq%3A20aec94e1700a4b7fcb5306dffe7cd00|iid%3A1
  15. How easy is it to convert the Hasegawa 1/32 P-40E to an M model? Just extended tail and the 2 intakes in front of the exhausts?
  16. Has anyone fitted underwing rockets to their Tamiya Mosquito yet? If so what did you use please?
  17. Looking Fantastic. I am just building the very same kit and i was wondering if i should paint the carbs and engine bearers? Can they bee seen through the UC bays do you think?
  18. Oh yeah in the past , about four kits in one stomping. It was incredibly satisfying!
  19. OK people , change of plan. I have been feeling that the fun has been disappearing from my modelling. I think the main reason is obsessing over details. This normally means hours spent on extra detail , that to be honest nobody other than me is going to see , or i the case of some areas not even see. With that in mind i have decided to start a new kit. and only use whats in the box. If its the wrong shape , or appears to need more details added....tough luck , straight from the box rubber tyres and all! Let the fun begin Right new kit
