  1. does anyone know how many pics i can upload in 1 post??? anyway... adding some more bits - no idea how visible they will be, and i'm not working from plans or anything, just a hotch-potch of photos i've found... a quick test fit...
  2. thx for that Matt - i might experiment later on next week with that (friends over from Czech tomorrow, so no modelling for a while) anyway, update time: more cockpit stuff done, and mostly fiddly but simple enough if you are patient a little cutting... a little folding...(if you do not posess one of these little fold tools you do not know what you are missing) and voila... one of my cats (Spitfire) didn't seem too interested, but kept me company nonetheless...
  3. Mike, no disprespect, but you shouldn't post this kind of stuff on the main board - as you rightly point out, it belongs on the traders / vendors bit etc etc if you do it, then others will, and this board will get cluttered with loads of BS anouncements about who has $5 off this, and 3% off that etc etc if it is that great a deal, i am sure i will hear about it from a fellow LSP member in a "private" capacity i for instance, am not in North America, and so would likely never order from you anyway (my stuff is UK / Euro / Far East Asia) please don't take offence - i am just stating my preference / opinion - and i am sure you meant no harm the moderators can move this etc etc if they wish Nick
  4. wow looks very good particularly interested in: "1. Two types of fuel tanks (normal, flying stand)" - what does this mean? one is the UGGGGGLLLLYYYYYY slipper tank depicted in the pics (does ANYONE want to put that on this beautiful bird??? ), so what's the other? if it is the type seen on lots of Czech Sqn aircraft then i am a happy bunny! "Bomb racks and 250lb bombs" i am now off to worship at the Tamiya altar...
  5. hi guys, firstly apologies for the lack of updates - progress has been slow because business trips abroad have got in the way of modelling for a while (trying to do business in Munich when Oktoberfest is on is a bit of a mission!), and also i was dioing some rearranging of my work area... i moved things around a bit and have almost finished a small book shelf for my pc and other stuff... i also managed to most of the other side of the cockpit panel, although in doing so a small PE part was tweezerpulted into space and ended up a victim of the carpet monster!! i will post more progress pics of that side today, but here is the first panel, pretty much done (will paint everything later i think) my biggest problem is applying superglue - how do you guys do it, and which type and brand do you use? i fear that i am ending upwith too much "blobbing" because i can't apply it in small enough quantities... cheers Nick
  6. hi, just seen the pics of the seat - looks great as others have said on here, i am sure that all LSPers will be happy to step up for ANYTHING you produce for the Lightning - i myself have the kit and am not going to touch it until there are some update sets (from yourself??) to make the kit a little more accurate all the best Nick
  7. so on that basis the tamiya zeros are hideously "and then some, and then some more" overpriced no? oh, but that's tamiya, and tamiya in japanese means "can do no wrong in eyes of Western modeller" sorry i forgot that (just like Eduard obviously must mean pile of do-do in Czech, given the way their Spitifre is being poo-pooed before it's even out) come on guys, spread the love around!
  8. @ Richard: thanks for this - i know about the sheet (stumbled upon it by accident, but that doesn't count!) - i just thought there was a new one out that's all. i have books on the Czech.... sqns and many of the interesting schemes require ordnance just not out right now and beyond my scratchbuilding abilities, hence my rant about rckets bombs drop tanks etc cheers for your offer of help - much appreciated N
  9. please tell me where the Czech sheet is 1/32 - unless it came out in the past few days (i've been abroad), where has this come from??
  10. only just thought of this, but perhaps when the Spitfire flew over my house yesterday, it was heralding the arrival of its scale cousin?? heard it a looooong way off, ran out into the garden and was greeted by the deep growl and then purr of the lovely Merlin, as a Mk IX (painted in full D-Day garb) whoosed overhead sooooo cool
  11. repeat after me: bombs, rockets, drop tanks bombs, rockets. drop tanks bombs, rockets, drop tanks...
  12. the "bad" canopy gets some to do some time in windex for its sins! and then to some actual modelling! i'll be using this etch thingy (forget the brand): and a mini drill thingy to quickly sand down kit parts where i will be using etch / some scratch built stuff instead... and the first bits actually glued... it's going to take ages! more later hopefully...
  13. the bits i will use - note nice model master barrels - hmmmm! the canopy bits i their drying chamber... and the bit that i butchered!
  14. ok here's where the action happens (or not, as the case may be)... ps does anyone know how i can make all my pics smaller / small-ish in one go? or do i have to post a spearate post for each pic (REALLY tedious)??
  15. PCM kits on ebay sometime soon methinks!
  16. GULP!! my thoughts exactly, in a feeling distinctly "not worthy" kind of way! VERY cool, and i would especially like to say thx for posting the landing gear and wheel close-ups - i'll be doing my best to cpoy those in future builds. cheers, nick
  17. nice! my bird is currently winging its way to Mr Rutman, so he can do his crazy resin thing and make some wheel wells and stuff for the kit - you know, the things PCM clearly forgot!! anyway, GREAT looking bird, whatever its inaccurracies - you make the painting look sooo simple!!! thx for posting Nick
  18. thanks Kevin - i have indeed left the house for the morning and am at my parents where i should be "working" (does being on here count? ) so we shall see what has occurred later today thanks for the tip about the cotton bud btw - i hadn't thought of that one. will put up a few pics later today...
  19. Hi, After a year or so of not building anything I am beginning Eduard's 109 E-1 kit. I will be using their PE set, Quickboost exhausts and gunsight, and Master Models brilliant gun barrels (they have to be seen up close to be believed). The aircraft will be "white 13" of 7./JG54 (decals kindly donated by a most helpful member on here - you know who you are!!), which crash landed on the beach at Lydd (also in Kent) about 25 miles from me on October 27th 1940. Anyway, first up was to future / klear the canopy, which i had already asked about over on the main DG... things did NOT go well, and I may have stuffed everything up before I have really begun, AND there is no vac canopy for the E-1!! the front windscreen piece (not the armoured glass, but the "main" bit) was dipped last night i checked it this morning and was not happy with the results, as there were "tear drop" still marks on the vertical surfaces. this is despite me touching a paper towel to the corners before setting it down anyway, then the trouble really started: i tried to paint more klear on... unhappy with the results, i dipped it in windex, but only the new klear started to come off i then washed the canopy with washing up liquid ("fairy" etc) and them SANDED the canopy my grit was obviously not fine enough, so i have a scratched mess with gooey lumps of klear all over it!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! will windex take ALL the klear off, and if so how long will it take?? it is currently in a cup of the stuff but i am not sure it is salvageable and would give anything to have it back as it was before i started fiddling about! not happy! i'll post some pics of the debacle when i am less likely to put my fist into the screen / stamp on the camera... Nick
  20. wow that's cool!!! thx for the heads up i can't believe your post was viewed a grillion times but no-one said anything. cheers, nick
  21. hi Jerry, can you PM me your address please? have had a clean out of my inbox and also my study and i don't seem to have it any more. I will post the kit Friday probably. if it's ok with you, i will send the whole kit in original box - i don't mind the extra couple of $£ shipping - as it's probably easier that way for me. cheers, Nick
  22. so someone else can do the "front end" of this bird...(hint) would you still like me to send you my kit (the whole thing), or is there anyone else Stateside that will oblige? If not, I am happy to step up. N
  23. Hi Jerry, If it gets the ball rolling, I'm happy to ship you my PCM 152... a) I trust you seems like a few people out there would like a correction set c) I am just about to start an Eduard Me109, so it will be months before I actually "need" the thing back (we are talking at least 6 months here) Let me know if you want me to send it - I am happy to cover the cost. How about that? Cheers, Nick
