WWI Era Aircraft LARGE SCALE !!!
  1. 32Tragic Great Looking out. Thank you. Just the sort of thing mentioned someone was interesting in standing figures. Always great for displaying Scale. It is a step in the right direction for sure. Heres the Rub Seated Figures have always been the rarity for the very reason they tend to be fit specific to one particular kit and or plane etc. While as far as Figure Artisits are concerned Stand alone figures tend to be universal and applicable near to any same scale subject. FIgure Makers want to sell as many as possible to clear modeling /molding & production costs. AAAAWWWWEE MIKE
  2. Master Details #32040 has released an awesome new 54mm/32nd scale BOMBARDER Seated Figure for the B17 & B25 Perfect to fill up those gapping giant glass dome noses. http://masterdetails.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=366&category_id=8&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6&vmcchk=1&Itemid=6 However since the LIST Of Large Scale WWII Bombers both allied and Axis has grown expontinaly over recent years. LETs PLEASE Complie a LIST of posiible Crewmen FIgure IF ANY Availalbe ? TO fill out the Cockpit/Gun Postions of any of these huge kits ? B17- Pilots/Crew B-25 Pilots/Crew Ju88 Pilots/Crew He111 Pilots/Crew Yours Mike
  3. THE BIG ED for this kit has been released, But MY Jaw is dropping on the FLoor over the prices. It's a two part BIG ED Set at $165.00 Each, $330.0 Total OH MY ! Of course this is not even considering the Brassin Wheels, Guns and Engines (4) Kits Is it just me ? But are the total Accessorie PE Alone almost 1.3 times more expensive than the Kit is self, (Oer 2X the Kit price if you incude the Resin ?) OH MY ?! I nearly got kicked in to the Garage when the KIT arrvied at the front door in its shiping box. I had been patientily waiting for all the Detail sets to be released and bundled in to a BIG ED. BUt wow the pit in my stomach caused by the thought of the Total in the Check out Cart is mind boggleing to me. I think this one may have just been permently moved to the Wish list as I await my piggy bank savings of loose coins and change to catch up for a few years ? OUCH ! NOt sure I can afford this one for some time to come. May well have to start a seperate super secret savings fund for it ? Yours MIke
  4. If anyone is to come across pre-ordering info/link please post asap ? Unfortunately I have too many of the old Me163 kits ie hasegawa, trump and after market resin & Pe already in the Stack. BUT I couldnt turn down the op to have a kit with so much interanl detail , ie postionable access covers, T-Stoff Fuel Tank, Ammo Cans etc. Yours MIke
  5. I want to see a 1/32 Halberstadt D-II to fill out ALL of the Planes Richthofen Flew.
  6. The main problem with the Original Avis Lozenge Decals were the actual color shades themselves. Orange, Purple, Forest Green Etc. Simply are way too far off any sort of authentic four color Lozenge. Secondly the lozenge size was way out of scale. they were too huge for 32nd scale. Not to worry however WnW is selling there printed Four Color Lozenge Decal Sheets as well In My Opinion an Even Better 4 color 32nd Lozenge Decal Sheet can be found at HgW. http://battlefield.eshop-zdarma.cz/index.php?s=product&id=702
  7. Stephan, Thank you. ! I'll be happy to send it on No/Chge. if I can find any of it left. I am sure there is but like the serendipity which cause you to find yours boxed, I will have to apply to the same search technique to my heap of opened kits I have on the shelf as well. I'll send you a PM as soon as i come across any of it. Yours Mike
  8. By Comparision Here IS the AVIS EVIII that I was able to Complete. And I Motorized it..
  9. Individually this may all seem like whining and nothing all together in surmountable. Except for me when it came time to fabricate new Struts to attach the gear and wing to the fuselage. I just didn't get it together, My Fault. FOR me the sourness of the experience was for a WnW Price I paid for this kit Before WnW's standard of excellence and CAD engineering existed.
  10. IF I remember a few of the Build issues I ran into which created new and different stumbling blocks for me along the way until I figured out a way to overcome them and either scratch build a new part and or fabricate a missing one. 1. The Cockpit interior rails appeared unusable to me due to their crude molding and work required to clean them up in to a usable part. So I made new ones form plastic rod. I cut the seat back off and replaced it with a PE one from a PART PE Set for the DR.I I fabricated new rudder pedals , joy stick and added control cables and PE additions from the PART PE Set. 2. The Upper Deck Cowl piece did not fit so I opened it to fit pe Mgs and added mounting posts. I added brass Oil & Fuel caps as well as Brass tube Intake pipes for the sides. I replaced the Kit lozenge with an aftermarket one under development but not released. This IS the Original KIT Decal Lozenge already applied to the build laying on top of a sheet of experimental home printed lozenge which I painstakely removed the kit decals and started over. 3. The Rear Elevator did'nt fit and required about an 1/8th inch of filler. AS well the wing had a huge marble sized divet out of the leading edge which had to be filled.
  11. This was the instruction sheet. Seems simple enough, I admit. IF ONLY it had been for me. NO I am not leaving anything out it was type written front and back on a Single page.
  12. This IS what was under the Gorgeous BA BOX Art Cover. Here is the Typical ONE Molded Resin Sprue : I had already begun painting it. This was the crude PE but Admittedly Very Fine Resin Engine.
  13. More than a little of the (in my opinion) deserved venom against the BA series was what appeared to be a misrepresentation by Squadron of what it was/is retailed for $80.00 at a time 13 yes ago before Roden , before wing nu when the only large 32nd scale WWI was the academy N17 and hobbycraft Camel. BA has collectible excellent box Art and in those days a online description of the plane itself, by type on the back page of the squadron catalog. Imaginations and wild dreams abounded of a WnW quality plastic model kit even before there were such things. I saw the 'two' neutral w/reservations reviews you saw. Not because I have sour grapes over my failures with the kit. But to be more specific than reqiruring to be a modeller than an assembler these kits require a 'scratch modeller's' skills. I'm talking about a make a pile of rib blanks strung together with rod. Filled and sculpting a blank out of balsa, making vacuform fuselage halves and scratch building each part out of plastic card and rod. Because under the awesome artwork on the box contained a single crudely molded Resin Sprue, a small 2x3 thick brass PE sheet and usually a decent resin engine. And Lozenge Decals which by anyone's standards were way out of Scale, and consisted of Circus like Bright Colors, Orange, Green, Blue and Purple. Even though the authentic lozenge colors were correctly depicted on the Box art. With no offense it would have been better received if it had been advertised as a resin scratch build project rather than what we expect as the definition of what a plastic kit is. I would have put an original retail value of $25-$30 dollars for the fine resin engine parts and the one sprue and pe included for fun ? Where feelings and pocket books get hurt is where you represent that as the same as a real and/or standard manufactured plastic model kit charge $80 dollars for it at the time and for several years after that. Yours, Mike
  14. I have both kits myself. I gave the BA DVIII my best try. I ventured to attempt new things try my skills and did the best I could. I got as far as completing the engine, cowl, fuselage, tail and wing. I am not a contest builder. More like an average builder with AMS tendencies to complicate builds where its not necessary . I got stuck at a stage where in order to make what I perceived would be an acceptable presentation of the EVIII I felt it was necessary to replace the kit wing and gear struts with brass Strutz cut and soldered in to place. I shelved it on to what would become one of my first 'un-buildable' kits for the reason it actually was un-buildable for me not that I didn't have enough time to finish or start it. Just that I was remiss in fabricating duplicate sysemtrical struts and getting the lengths and heights correct without plans. I failed there. However I was able and did complete an Avis EvIII. :-) Yours Mike
  15. LSP Mike, natural ? Meaning, as In, there already has been/ IS another 1/16 th Scale (Skeletal) Camel Kit ? Yes for some time but please make NO mistake this Kits are Similar in Name and Subject Only. I have both Kits. TO Date Model Airways was the only alternative to a Skeletal Camel. There are numerous detail threads however about what sort of difficult & complex and in some cases Outright Scratch builds Model Airway Kits reveal themselves to be. Your absolutely correct about the difference in mediums. Model Airway Kits are Wood and White Metal Casted Moldings. The Metal Parts are not the fine, tight fitting kind of Parts Molded Plastic are. While I have not ventured into my Model Airway Camel to verify for myself however I did much research about them before I got them so I was aware from the beginning how Crude they are to build. It takes a Skilled Model Craftsmen to come anywhere near what resembles a Camel you would recognize much less with functioning sub-assemblies. Each of the Model Airways 1/16th Series have their own particular issues. For instance one of the major hicups I have read about the Camel is that the Wood Longeron Pieces are too large to fit the Rib Notches that are pre cut for them. I have heard though that the Jenny was the best of the series with the least amount of build issues to tackle. I would have to suggest IN Fact the Model Airways Kit Series, IN Fact Belongs to an Entirely different kind of Kit building Hobby from Plastic Model building and is more Akin to Scale Wooden Sailing Ship Building as their Maker Model Airways In Fact is a subsidery of Model Shipway Models. http://www.historicships.com/TALLSHIPS/Model%20Shipways/ModelShipwaysMenu.htm IN Part, to me why the Hasegawa Re-Launch into this Scale and Subject is so significant. Yours MIke
