  1. Well that looks like a pretty awesome paintjob from where I am looking! You have got your surface beautiful...you have to of course with a finish like that. Well done mate, that is stunning
  2. Thanks Zak Not much to report except whilst waiting for some things to set on my Zero I started whittling some plastic around the tailwheel to try and improve it without pulling it to bits.....well I ended up with many bits! So as you can see I ended up reworking the whole thing. Still a fair bit to go like the ends of the fork and the ejector pin marks and general tidy up. Thanks for looking in Cheers Anthony
  3. Peter, great subject choice mate. I have the Yellowhammer decals if you want them? Cheers Anthony
  4. Thanks Mike You deserve a well earned break from the Mossie. I will update when I have more to show. Right now all I have is a pile of bits! Cheers Anthony
  5. Perfect, thank you very much Mike! I am working on my tailwheel oleo at the moment whilst I decided what to do on the radiators. What started as a little scrape and scratch here and there has ended up with it in about 5 pieces so far whilst I detail it.....Arrrrgh! I know what you mean, this kit is an intense build/correct and I just have to walk away and clear my head of it now and then and come back with fresh eyes. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration. Cheers Anthony
  6. Great explanation Mike, thank you Sorry I knew I wasn't very clear and you would wonder what I was blabbering on about, this will explain Because I cut away a lot of internals I need a recheck of the measurement to see if I am far out. Cheers Anthony
  7. Now thats what I have been waiting for!! Thank you Michael Those radiators look brilliant. Thank you for such an informative post as to what you did as I am going to build new ones as well. Did you glue the radiator cores onto the bottom panel first and then put the tops on? How did you get on underneath at the outlets? Sorry for the questions but I need to know for my one. Oh one more question, what did your opening finish up at, at the leading edge lips (centre of upper leading edge radius to centre of lower leading edge radius) Cheers and thanks for the update Anthony
  8. Good on yer Brian! Just remember that KA114 has been covered in a modern fabric using the Polyfibre system. So she is much smoother than an original wartime covered one in Madapolam which had a more of a coarse fibre/weave. If you take a look at Kermit's B35 I suspect you will have a better representation as she is probably still covered in Madapolam. Having said that by the time an airframe gets several layers of paint applied it looks smooth anyway. Whilst HK have added this texture it probably looks effective on a big smooth surface to add some detail, the reality is you probably wouldnt notice it in 32nd. What you do notice (and I will be doing it on my 24th one) is the strips over the fabric joins, as well as wood skin joins particularly around the nose on the FB's See below
  9. This is an example of the strip. Photo credit Luftforsvaret
  10. Regards the strip on the wings This was a weather strip to stop moisture ingress into the spar. I dont have my data on me but this was also to be applied at sqn level. I have seen varying degrees of the 'feathering in' to be done on the edges. Some have virtually none done to the cap where others are very well blended. Looking at the HK kit I would suggest rubbing it right back as it looks too pronounced to me as well. Now, I better get back to work, LOL Cheers Anthony
  11. Oh, ment to say that this will be the same for all Mosquito wings no matter where they were built
  12. Hi Carl The insides of the nacelle are silver painted, firewall interior green. The wells in the wings were green. Hope this helps Cheers
  13. Righto Just about to start some more work plumbing the firewall, but in the meantime I have been tidying up my exterior. Needed to do a little shim and rescribing work around the wing to fuse joint. Pretty happy with it now, just got to scribe a couple of panel lines and final rivet detail. I am hoping you wont know Tamiya didn't originally do this version! Finished fitting the Eduard flap wells ready to glue the ribs in now Also tidied up the trailing edge fillet and CMK fuel cell bay Here you can see my shims in the stbd leading edge....not sure what went wrong there, I am putting it down to mixing the 2 kits together and I suspect this piece to be correct came from the A6M5. Boxed around the CMK wheel wells earlier in prep for brackets and plumbing etc. Starting to look like an A6M3-Model 22 now As always crappy photography courtesy of myself in a rush! Off to look at engine and firewall details on the 'net' and Mals build Thanks for looking in as always Cheers Anthony
  14. AWESOME thank you! They look like a great bunch of guys. I cant wait for that C-47 Thanks again for the update Cheers Anthony
  15. Thanks Heinz! Look forward to seeing the pics Cheers Anthony
  16. Thanks guys, that is all great info! However my machine has dark blades so I was thinking very dk brown(almost black) with yellow stripes? Mal, that looks like a great thread, I am going to go and have a decent look soon...thank you. Thomas, thanks for the compliment, it has been on the shelf of doom for a long time. The Airfix Mosquito was getting intense with riveting the ailerons so I needed a change of scenery. Le Lapin Mal, youe mate you have got great spotting skills! I am rebuilding ex RHKAAF/HKGFS Auster WE552/HKG-4 to fly. She has suffered badly at the hands of vandals, weather and would be restorers over the years but she is now way back on track to being in full airworthy health again. She has been a ground up rebuild to stock military config. Still a long way to go but I am making good steady consistent progress. I would love to get the fuse fabriced next year some time. My bird was regularly flown by Sir Adrian Swire and SQN Ldr Ross Penlington. Adrian gave me his pilots notes and Val (Ross's widow) gave me his pilots notes and several other bits n pieces. Now you can see why it takes me so long to progress on model planes! Cheers guys Anthony
  17. Hi guys....sorry another question. What colour would the prop be do you reckon? I cant tell from those black and white photos.
  18. Wasnt there talk of HpH doing one in 32nd?? Now THAT I would buy!
  19. I have some good up close pics of the Banff Gun Camera nose Bob if you need it? NZ2336 has one fitted and I leaned out with my camera and snapped some good pics. They show the removable cover plate and 'bump' next to the lens aperture. Let me know I am pretty keen to get some RP stubs and rails for sure! Cheers Anthony
