  1. I doubt $999, my guess is £500/550 ish, we'll see, but off to pre-order my WNW Dambuster now. EDIT: Done, WNW Dambuster pre-ordered from Hannant's for the 10% discount, hope markings for Guy Gibson's aircraft are included (bound to be) and that figures (inc the dog, Hint Hint WNW if you are reading) are later released, standing ones as they have done for some of their WW1 aircraft ... kit of the century IMHO, had to be done
  2. I probably would have because its a Lanc and Lancaster's have a special place in my heart but would like to have known if they were going to do a Dambuster too and go for that, the HK Lanc after all still looks an amazing kit. But perhaps as with their Mosquito and once under real (at home) Modeller scrutiny there might be errors? probably wont be, but their glass nosed Mossie looked awesome up until the leading wing root error was discovered, the B-17 nose issue too. its too early to say if the shot of the WNW oil canning effect is over emphasized, (photography lighting wise) unfixable (I doubt it) or even final yet, but for accuracy and all pricing aside I'd wager WNW's Lanc will be the more overall accurate OOB and I'm no betting man ... so that would be a safe bet for me.
  3. So how does a pre-order at Hannant's work again? You pay when it comes in stock ... right? Their price is understandably TBA right now, but I should probably get an order in for the Dambuster kit just now because as expensive as these kits are likely to be I have a feeling they will sell out fast.
  4. It will be fun to build the interior A fair bit will be seen, nose bubble, canopy, open rear crew door, one can always document the build with good quality photos. HK Model has clear nose sections, but no thanks to that option even if the WNW kit had it too.
  5. That's where I got my A4 motorised from, price was originally £140 ish got mine for £128 ish ... I think? I have the original A1 as well from when they first came out and were crazy cheap, as well the He.111 ... glad I have both. If I had to choose one it would be an 88
  6. All good points and reasons so far, I don't really have the space either but always thought an exception could be made for a 1/32 Lancaster, especially a Dambuster, it will need to hang from the wall or the ceiling though. Probably the HK kit will have a wall hanging part, but not hard to fabricate if the WNW kit does not. I resisted the HK B17's ... just, actually had one on order but cancelled it after much soul searching, as regards complexity, both of them are likely no more complicated than many other 1/32 kits such as Tamiya ones if not modern Revell ones, maybe not much more parts, just larger ones? we'll see. Some might even buy a WNW Lanc as a mini investment, because I believe whatever price they will be they will sell out just as the HK ones will, with perhaps the WNW appreciating in price when they are all gone ... but that's not why I will be buying. It seems like a lot of money, but not really for a main hobby when you consider a new performance exhaust system for a Motorcycle would cost more (If I were still doing that) what's the price of a new set of Golf clubs? I don't know, but I guess not cheap, when we lean some perspective to these kits the price does not seem so bad after all.
  7. Planning just one here, the WNW Dambuster Lanc, sorry HK.
  8. My guess was because this position was also sometimes a gun position as well ( I think?) but I googled it and this is the best answer I can find ... Link
  9. OMG: Was typing earlier about hoping HK would do a Dambuster Lanc ... been away from PC a couple of days and just logged on to see this and had to reply, now to go digest the whole thread, unbelievable! News of the century!
  10. Thanks for the feedback, not for me then.
  11. I wonder why the Lanc costs so much more than their B-17's? Both similar sizes and even more complexity on the Fortress if anything, does the HK B-17 have a detailed Bomb bay ... I assume the Lanc has? The B-17 went for about £250 I think? I do love the Lancaster but have decided to hold off and see if they produce a Dambuster version though. Meanwhile, the Liberator at the current Hannants pre-order price seems to good to pass up.
  12. Might have to get this one, how did the original Italeri kit build up? Not to bothered about uber cockpit detail or AM these days, but if its a joint filler queen, might have to really consider, wrists are bad these days ... I need modern Tamiya like almost snap tight kit engineering.
  13. Thought I'd add these pics for atmosphere, friend of mine was in Ullapool west coast of Scotland today and sent me these pics of a Liberator crash site, kinda good the engine has been left there out of respect and not been take away by a collector or something, also a plaque to commemorate the dead on this lonely isolated spot. Site is classed as a war grave, its actually North a bit from Ullapool nr Badachro.
  14. I got £170 for my Hannover just now, one went last week for £250!
  15. I sold one on ebay a few hours ago for £80, if I'd known, might have kept it back a little longer. Fair price though.
  16. Now, if only Peter Jackson would pick up his Dambusters script again, because you just know he would do it right.
  17. And as an intermission to our HK Lancaster debate, here is a nice video from our sponsors, to enjoy the sights and sounds of a real Lancaster Perhaps it will inspire more to buy the kit and produce real 1/32 masterpieces. I've seen the real BoB Memorial Lanc in flight a few times, its something I will never forget. Play it loud please.
  18. I hear your point John, just read the link, it was James Hatch, a well respected modeller that wrote it would have this, so now we see where the expectations are coming from? But Perhaps James was misqouted ?, am sure he reported with all honesty from what he was told at time of that article, perhaps too that goal became unrealistic as the project budget came under pressure and that goal was never relayed to us, it does seem a shame we wont get that effect in the finished kit now, but I still maintain if we had not heard it might happen then we would never have expected it and we would be none the wiser. I hope that makes sense? I'm not a good writer. At the end of the day it seems we wont have stressed skin effect on the final kit and I can sort of understand why, it was a way over ambitious goal for this project IMHO. No kit is perfect, this Lancaster wont be either, we have what we have ... and what we have or soon will, looks good by any LSP standard to me.
  19. I think its more a case of some modellers stressed out over the stressed skin effect (or lack of) than anything else As a possible/likely buyer, I'm not going to stress about it, the plastic surface detail still looks good, what we need to remember is that to do a proper stressed skin effect would take longer and more expensive tooling, we are already looking at ... I guess, around £250, perhaps £270 or more for this kit where I live, stressed skin effect done accurately would drag the project along further and push up the costs exponentially, especially on such large areas of plastic this kit has and the tooling time and cost needed to pull off that effect ... and then if price went up and delays were announced to accommodate this we'd get some real complaining Bottom line is ... not everyone can be pleased, everything in Modelling and Life for that matter is a compromise ... perhaps if the stressed skin effect were not mentioned in relation to this kit in the first place, then it might not be expected? Very few 1/32 kits actually have it, and although it is a Lanc highlight, it was probably the same with other 1/32 and larger kits too where the real subject had it too, but we accepted it anyway. Stressed skin effect is the new mantra of the modeller critic it seems. Shrugs ... I dunno, but its not a show stopper for me *IF* I were to buy one
  20. Aye, right Dean, you'll likely grab a large proportion of the UK allocation before we get a chance to buy Seriously, really am tempted with this one, love the Lanc, but if I knew a Dambusters version were to follow I would wait for that as I have a close affinity with the 617 squadron ... living near RAF Lossiemouth (now RAF Marham for the F-35's) from where they recently flew from, albeit with the much more modern Tornado GR4. RAF Lossie had all the replica bombs that were used on display for public open days though. Ewan McGregor's brother, Colin flew with 617 and their Tornado's and met him a few times as he still lives in my town, a Biker the same as myself Desperately trying to cut down on my stash and uber large models though, but perhaps for this an exception could be made, resisted the B-17 (just) it will be harder for me to resist this.
  21. F-16C was their last jet released in 1/32, the Thunderbirds one came after the CJ, a re-pop of the F-14 with some new parts came after that I think, but all new tool it was the F-16.
