  1. Admins, You may want to check the forgot password tool also. I tried to click on it and it never sent me an email. Thanks
  2. If it's like their other 1/18th scale kits The outside and details will be ok. But you will have to scratch build a decent Cockpit, Wheel wells and landing gear and gun bay. Don't expect a whole lot of accuracy.
  3. Unfortunately scratch building has become something of a lost art. These are some book I have found to be useful. https://www.amazon.com/Master-Scratch-Builders-Aircraft-Techniques/dp/0764307959 https://www.amazon.com/Model-Building-Brass-Kenneth-Foran/dp/0764340042/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Modeling+in+brass&qid=1612025108&s=books&sr=1-4 https://www.amazon.com/More-Scratchbuilding-Masterclass-Chris-Meddings/dp/0993258840/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=scratchbuilding&qid=1612025058&s=books&sr=1-10 Arizona models sell both a kit and plans in 1/6th scale for the Fokker DVII https://arizonamodels.com/products/fokker-dvii They also sell engine kits. spandau guns and lozenge pattern Covering. Scratch building involves a lot of different skills. For ww1 aircraft you usually start with the cross sections, or bulkheads, and then attached them together with formers https://thevintageaviator.co.nz/projects/fokker-dvii-build That gives you the basic shape and that gets covered with fabric and doped. The fokker had a Aluminum Frame so if you do that you will have a bit of soldering to do. The modeling in brass book may help. Whatever you do start with good plans. I would start with smaller parts and workout any kinks in building methods. Start with the Rudder and Elevators first.
  4. Thank you I did not know that. I thought 21st century toys were they only one doing 1/18th scale aircraft. But I wasn't much into them either. I thought they were neat but way too large to keep in a small apartment. I do have a Merit international 1/24th Fokker DR 1. The Fokker suffers the same problem. Incorrect or lack of details were it would really help sell the model.
  5. I'm pretty sure there is a direct correlation between Age, Eyesight and Model Scale 55/15 = 3.6x real world Scale...... yeah that about matches what I can see. When the 21st century toys were popular I saw a few people take them and rebuild/repaint them. The Hasbro Millenium Falcon toy stills make a good looking large scale model but it takes a lot of work. With the advent of affordable 3d printers it's now possible to correct the lack of details and mistakes kit manufactures make. At least I think so. I'll let you know when I have my FW 190 A8 done. For fun I like to work out how big some things would be at different scales B-24 wing span 110 feet @ 1/18 scale = 6.08 Feet Zeppelin Strakken wing span 138 feet @ 1/8th = 7.6 Feet B-52 wing span 185 feet @ 1/18 scale = 10.27 feet Zeppelin L30 Length 650 feet @ 1/18th scale = 36.11 feet
  6. If it's anything like the Fw 190 A5 and A8 they released it's just an unpainted version of the old 21st century toy molds. The exterior is ok, not sure on how accurate it is. Don't expect much of anything for the cockpit, wheel wheels or engine. Unless your replacing all those sections with scratch building. Which is what I'm having to do with my FW 190 A8. It might make an ok ceiling hanger model.
  7. Thanks for the Information. I have some of Al bentley Drawings for the D0 335 and Me 109. I will have to order the Fw-190 A8 drawings from him. I've also seen a few offers for original technical plans http://www.aircraft-reports.com/focke-wulf-fw-190-a-8-aircraft-blueprints-download/ I currently have the following books : Schiffer military history Focke-Wulf Fw190A by Dietmar Herman/ Ulrich Leverenz/Eberhard Weber Airframe and Miniature #7 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Richard Franks Aero data international Fighters of WWII VOl 1 Squadron Signal Publications Aircraft monograph #4 FW 190 A/F/G/S part 1 Adam Skupiewski
  8. HI, I 'm working on a few Fw-190 A8 projects and was wondering if any one knew of the most "accurate" set of drawings for one? I have a few books with with drawings but I always wonder how correct they are. I'm always looking for good drawings on the cockpit and BMW 801 engine. Thanks, Michael
