  1. Well done! Didn't even know about this one til now. Scheme is well executed.
  2. Nicely done, Guy. I always liked the III better than the Va.
  3. Ooh color me interested. Nice start. Following. I didn't even know anyone made this in 1/48.

Guys, Thank you for your helpful and motivating comments. I'll keep pressing forwards. I've never been a big proponent of pre-shading. Mainly because of working with multi-color schemes, and a tendency to lay the paint on a bit too thick. But for this build, I decided to have a go... but I was going to add my own wrinkle. Instead of trying to capture every panel line and access hatch in a uniform way, I was going to use a couple colors to try to add facets to the otherwise smooth surfaces. A final step in the process was to remove overspray by wet sanding with high grit micro-mesh. I used 6k grit. I also painted the base colors of some of the smaller parts. Thank you for looking!

Hello friends. Big works in the last few days. We're on our feet... though the resin wheels are only dry fitted. and masked the canopy segments. One of the few things wrong with this kit is the size of the propeller boss. i had to cut off the ends and use layers of Evergreen sheet to give the Emil it's characteristic exposed gears look. I haven't done any more figure work since my last update. I want to ensure I at least get the aircraft done by the end of the GB. thanks for looking.
  6. Bravo! Well done. Great job on this one.
  7. exciting times... the rigging will fill the while thing up.

The toothbrush is for sanding. I cut off the bristles and put double sided tape on the rotating head. I use no-fil sandpaper of 400, 600, and 1200 grit. Best sanding tool ever. Saves me tons of time. And I can get to small areas without obliterating raised detail.
  10. I don’t know about you, but the only thing that kept me away from large and expensive kits when I was 12 years old was too much competition from other kids mowing lawns in my neighbourhood. If I recall, it only took one kit to turn me from never having built a model, to having a lifetime obsession with war and models.
  11. War movies are what brings war planes to kids and dads in the cinema. They kindle the imagination. I imagine a lot fewer of us would build military models if we hadn’t seen them represented in black and white war movies a long time ago.
  12. Is there anything more than a black silhouette to this? I have yet to see any CAD drawings. I’m sure they know all about MOTA, and this announcement could also be a fishing expedition to see if there is real interest. Considering that their 1/35 109G6 takes a lot of bad shapes from a Trumpeter 109, I don’t like our chances of getting one that is shaped well.
  13. Everybody seems to think that they're gonna skip from the K4 straight to the P-51. Seems a big jump when there are still G6AS, G14AS, and G10 just small steps away.
  14. Masts and fighting tops look great, Ernest. It's exciting to see it coming together.

Today I decided to get over a hurdle... or knock it over clumsily. The PE canopy. Here it is... so far. It's not perfectly straight. I've been working on the crew and cast, too... none of them are finished, yet. There will be a couple other figures from other builds that will also join them. PE details like the canopy are just the thing to put my mojo on hold. Happens every time. Figures do it too, but to a lesser extent. So I try to pace myself by doing a bit here and there of each until I can get through them all. Thanks for looking.
  16. That mast looks great! I need a lathe. I keep telling myself this, but never buy one. The problem with my little piece of Australia is the humidity. I don't have any non-stainless steel tools that haven't developed a dense patina of rust.
  17. Wow, Mike! I'm glad you are back to talking to us. Rest well and get better.
  18. Well…. I might be going with your wife on this one. I find any kind of work with fine lines tedious. But the results look impressive. I’m curious…. Has any of your research led you to what they used to stain or paint the darker wood fixtures?
  19. They did say they were going to build what they wanted... so somebody wanted a 109. Which is always cool with me. I wonder if they'll drop a few versions of 109's like they did with the Spitfire before coming out with a new type. Wouldn't that be sweet?
  20. I'm amazed by those vortex generators. Very impressive.
  21. I like the comparison photos, too. I started collecting underside photos a year ago, and they definitely help add to the model. Coming out sweetly.
  22. A break from LSP's or a break from models or a break from WIP's?
