Well, life, work things that happens and important time to have time.

now got time to spend to do what i real love to do, build and painting models, started gently with a tank, then this B-17, and this current one on the bench.

Allright, it were a while i builded, did a restart many yrs ago, now its since 2016, lol so lets say a new new restart then.

This is my first 1:72 kit ive builded (oh well okay when a kid 7-8yrs something and doesnt count hey).

The kit, is an Airfix, scale 1:72, new tool, got it second han cheap, i mean yes cheap, and now why i got it so cheap lol, this sample were hidious, really.....missing parts, not fully injected on the sprues, tons of sink marks, and i meaning big ones, some parts were like lunar surface, and not to mention the really bad fit on this sample, so to say best way to tackle this build is to treat it as it would be a short run, best to do so so no bad surprices awaits further on in the build

oh well stop whining and do something about it, i finnished it few days ago, started in late October early November last year, had to adress tons of things to get a decent model out of this build, to display in my display glass cabinet,  did some scratch due all errors on the parts, no AM parts except decals to build this specific aitcraft namely Little Miss Misschief,
the plan were to do a quicky, yes i didnt happen, yes you all guessed it right, and ended up way more the planned.

No need to mention,as ive been reading alot about B-17s, and the Little Miss Misschief, it were indeed a Frankensten, cannibalized parts from other parts from other aircraft due heavy dammages.

This aircraft had sting tail, later in the end it had a Chyenne tail, it had the waist gunner in uniform, since it onlky replaced the tail, so this is little different from standard B-17G with Chyenne tail, then its staggered waist gunner, this version of the kit isnt optimal fore if in for more accurate specs.

What ive scratched is as will shown on photos are oxy tubes, smaller ones with cauges, and fire extinguisher, navigator desk lamp, cockpit center console with levelers, brass tube in to flame covers on machineguns, handles and loading on the Browning machine guns, identity/nav light on the fuselage after the ball turret and wing roots, and blue lamps on the stabilisator and dorsal fin, antenna pole is cratched from piece of brass, eez line as antenna wire, and the antenna poles in the undterside near the tail are from guitars tring and eez line, milliput for seat cuishins, and platic card for doors, and inside root of mainwings bomb bay wall, pe mesh for intakes for oilcoolers, gunsights for the turret and ballturet and tailgunner, and much more.

Almost all NMF are Alclads, some MR Hobby, colors are mainly Tamiya paints and mixed ones to get desired flavor so to say imo what i like (those who seen my builds here know i mix my own coctails), weathering were various techniques involved, oils, Tamiya Panel line washes, FLorys and pigments, graphite from a pen,  and many more.
and not to mentions some, oh well, yes tons of research and photos for the weathering and detailing.

Over to the pics instead of writing, mixed with pics from the build and to the finnished result Mals Way.

Last words, this build were very very fun to build, and my only goal were to get a decent build out of this bad modelkit, but it can be done and dressed up a little bit with minor scratch building and no AM for builder, higly recomended imo.

    Enjoy.

Little more done on this Butcher bird.

Primer, masked canopy, monted some parts, dont go bananas on them gaps on the engine, as real deal had gaps between the panels over the engine.

also the rail in the belly and the fueltanks console, made sure there is a gap, like real deal.

Yes, this build it started as OOB 8am thisa morning, and 30 mins later realized, crap, that OOB went down the drain aswell, lol, the mashineguns, geez they are damn sad lookin that wont either do as plastic tootpics. so recaled i had some syringes in my first aid, hell yess, tadaa.

Also had to adress small sinkmarks, but they were tiny, and the fit wingroot fuselage had to be adressed early, to avoid tons of putty and grinding, as this kit is crazy crisp, and yes you can gen very good fit with small effort, only if heads up and some dryfitting.

Love your work, Mal!  I complain about 1/48 being too small so its inspiring to see detailed 1/72 work.  I don't see too many 1/72 aircraft builds with chipping effects.

Yep...yellow it is, as messy info i know, but its yellow.

BUT, if i would build it, i would go for red and yellow as it looks so freakn cool....and in the display cabinet. stands out crazy cool

its only a model.  Coolnes overides here imo, sometimes 100% aint right here, make it interesting to look at and deliberately.

I neglected to mention the sole reason I bought this book. The Hawk box art actually depicts an F-2, flown by Hahn, and this book was used to confirm that, as well as confirming the colors of the cowl and rudder were all wrong. I'll still be painting them red though, regardless.

Thanks guys!  I wish Eduard would do 1/32 as well.  I love their range and quality of 1/48 scale WW2 fighters but frankly, the scale is just too small for my preferences.  I enjoy working on LSPs the best.

I've cobbled together two versions of the instrument panel.  One is pre-painted Eduard photoetch panels glued onto the kit plastic parts (right).  The other is the kit plastic parts with the molded detail and the kit decals placed over it (left). It took a bit of effort to get the decal to conform to the molded detail using multiple applications of Microsol, Solvaset, a sharp knife and physical pressure.  The remaining silvering around the instruments was carefully painted out.  The Eduard version is clearly superior in terms of detail but the purplish grey color, which isn't apparent in the picture below, bugs me.  Haven't decided yet but I'm leaning towards using the decal version because I like the color better.

I'm slowly working on the cockpit components.  It's not as straightforward as it could be since some of the Eduard PE is pre-painted, which means I have to pre-paint some of the plastic parts before the PE is glued on.  But it's getting there.  In the meantime, I've taken the time to open up the fuselage openings aft of the engine.

I'm not going to do too much extra detailing in the cockpit but I didn't like the throttle quadrant so I've cut off the levers and will make new ones.

Not sure if this belongs here or LSP section? Gonna hang it here.
Very straight forward and enjoyable build. It took about four hours from start to finish, with a small intermezzo of days when I was trying to locate that pesky aluminium spark plug. other than that, this is OOB. Painted with AK acrylics.
