  1. Jake it's awesome. It's not until you have comprehensive reference material like this that you release how much work you have to do to fix some kits up, like Trumpeter's F model for example. Totally recommended.
  2. I'm rocking a Harder and Steenbeck - Infinity with a .2 needle set. Amazing tool.
  3. Awesome work. Will be following this for sure!
  4. Awesome cockpit detailing!!! Loving this build thread.
  5. 1/32 Trumpeter Intruder 1/32 B17 I have a large list of cool 1/32 kits to collect already so I'm not to worried about being bored waiting for new kits to hit the market.
  6. Just bought this, can't wait to read it. I have a small nest of 1/32 hornets the stash and currently getting all the pieces together for a Pukin Dogs E, Jolly Rogers F and RAAF 1 SQN G.
  7. I'm thinking of buying this, has anyone actually built it yet and what were your views/opinions???
  8. Great choice. A great book you should read is 'Immediate Response' by Major Mark Hammond. RAF Chinooks kicking arse in Afghanistan.
  9. Just remember there is a world of difference from Available to 'In Stock'. I ordered and paid for a Tamiya scriber from them in October 2011. Still haven't got it.
  10. I was just on the Ad Astra website and couldn't locate these masks (your build is AMAZING). Any advice on where I can get these? Sorry I'm very new to all these modeling stuff.
  11. After reading Ben Rich's Skunkworks and the amazing missions it undertook I HAVE to have one in the stash.
  12. These are beautiful kits. I know what you mean by the rough handling. I bought the Global Hawk (it's freaking huge by the way!) and the Reaper, and the boxes have no structure really and crumple very easily, they don't survive well via postage regardless of what the seller packs around it. Mine arrived crumpled too, but after a quick sprue check it was good to go. I'll be watching this build as I love seeing these made up, and the approaches everyone takes to make their model a little different. The tubing idea is great, I must remember to do that.
  13. Tamiya Mustang. That stuff is art.
  14. This is not a Model, IT'S ART
  15. That is a great build. Inspiring even... I just bought this kit to try it out based on your efforts. Many thanks.
  16. Thank you for sharing, must have been a great day.
  17. Been on the flight sim scene for about 7 years now, and mainly getting into DCS series (particularly A-10C), and IL2. But with the fantastic work of BMS to update Falcon 4, I’m thinking about jumping into that once I have a block of time to learn another game. I think we are all waiting to see what happens with Cliffs of Dover , but I’m a believer in 1C and I think they’ll fix it up. My alias is either Deigs or Crow, and I run a group out of Australia called 161 SQN within the AEF clan. My tags are AEF Crow (161), and we usually host our own games for sessions and chat via the DCS Community TS3 Channels (open to all). I’ve gotten into model building for a break from that, and to try something new. I’ve ‘flown’ with a few groups on and off and yes, some characters get narky about the wrong signal lights during taxi, or brevity linguists who are fluent and get annoyed when slightly drunk Australians don’t get the Requests to Tower 100% right. Love realism, but I'm not a dick about it. But that’s all part of the fun, I guess. Firstly thank you for the informative post, you've given me lots to think about. I’m not sure what type of modeller I am, but it’s just a matter of time till I’m a rivet counter as that is my nature. At the moment I’m just looking to learn how to fix seam lines, painting, general gluing, the pure basics. Walking before I can run sorta stuff. I do have a 1/32 AH-64A 1991, Task Force Normandy Apache (specifically Dick Cody’s) to build in the near future, and have been researching the hell out of that project to get the markings/nose art/ordinance/colour and what weathering I’ll use just right. I love the story behind the plane / unit in modelling projects and that’s important to me. I’m not to fussed initially on accuracy but as my skills increase I want to be at a level where I can scratch build, making my own decals, and alter my builds where it’s needed. But I'm not on a time scale and these things will happen when they happen. I'm in no rush. I agree with you. I'll get a few cheap kits, and some better new tool ones for a bit later on.
  18. OK. Seen the light, I'll hunt for a newer kit from Hasegawa. The P-40E came out mid 2000's (I think, haven't looked too far into that just yet) and it's an old RAAF warbird too. So I'll hunt for some RAAF decals. In regards to the 'special' lads / haters, yeah we get a lot of them in the realistic online flight simming communities. The trick is to breathe deep, pour a beer, and just keep moving on. Thanks for the advice guys, you are steering me through the minefields of old kits, and for that I salute you.
  19. Hasegawa MESSERSCHMITT Bf109E from Lucky Model from $29.00 Looks to be a winner. It's cheap for me to practice on, I'm staying in the scale I wish to pursue, Hasegawa seems to be the newbies friend, and I'm quite partial to WW2 birds. Done. Thanks LSP I'll keep you involved in the process and make an in-progress topic, to get advice as I go along and whatnot. Cheers guys
  20. Hello LSP, Been looking at this site on and off for years and finally bit the bullet and starting getting all the equipment to get into scale modelling. I got the glues, fillers, sanders, snips, files, brushes and getting the airbrushing set-up soon. But I was wondering from you guys, what is an easy, reasonably trouble free first 1/32 kit? I was thinking trumpeters P-40 because they are pretty cheap. But I was keen to hear your thoughts. Deigs
