The only way to be sure is to take a look at the data plate under the cockpit sill.

It's easier if you chuck the wheel in a drill the use a saw blade to scribe in the treads.

Very nicely built and finished. The intake ramp detail on the Dart is surprising for the era.

I ordered one today, as I was notified the kit was on this week's SH discount scheme special offer list. However, I found a UK supplier who was selling at very close to the SH price, but the shipping was far cheaper than any of the Euro post options from the Czech Republic. It didn't used to be so as I've bought several kits direct from the SH scheme in the past.

There used to be several really good model shops in East London when I lived there in the '70s. I bought my first Microscale sheet and Squadron Phantom book at ModelMark on Upton Lane, and Entex F-4B and IMC Battle damaged kits at a place on Hoe St. whose name now escapes me. Also a shop opposite Homerton Hospital with a model section in the basement where I bought the then new 1/48 Hasegawa F-4B and F-4J It only seemed fair having spent so many afternoons just browsing. And of course A.G. Hermite's in East Ham, which housed Ted Taylor's Scale models featured Revell 1/32 F-4E with the UK tailcode in glass under one of the counters.

Er ... me too. I'm the Croft Cottage addt.

I was hoping the LIDAR scanned Tan models F-4E was going to open the door to a correctly shaped Phantom carcase, after all these years.
-
Maybe so. But the underside perforated ones add a nice detail touch.

Lovely. Just lovely. Thanks for the great pictures. I'm still trying to source the darker green in MRP colours. Also the black, but I think NATO black will be a good enough substitute.

my first Tamiya 1/32 plane build - not what I was expecting
Chek replied to npb748r's topic in LSP Discussion
As has been alluded to, Tamiya's kits from the past 10 years are a step change improvement on their 1990s kits. There are a lot of faults with their big Phantoms but having said that they can be built to a very high standard. Although it's an F-4C type, this model is an indication of what can emerge from a build. -
Does anyone have a good quality drawing showing the engine intakes as they should be, or what the Fisher parts actually correct?
-
Nice to see the fuselage extension is made of separate parts, which will make conversion to an AJ much easier for those with an extra kit and no patience to wait for a specific release.
-
I was thinking of being up close and personal at the front of any impact at all.

I've often wondered how HE 219 crews rated their survivability chances in a crash.

As we are all no doubt aware, fine carbide steel drill bits down to 0.3 mm are incredibly brittle and can break with annoying rapidity. Is there any reason that springier steel cannot be used? I've ground the tip of guitar strings to an acute point like is done with syringes, which work well for drilling out (or perhaps gouging out would be more accurate) small diameter gun barrels. The steel is much less hard and likely wouldn't work for other drilling applications, but for plastic it seems to work fine. But a properly machined spiral flute would be much less delicate than a carbide one.

The downward pointing rear adapter doesn't look too difficult to add to the Eduard launcher set.

Probably easier to backdate a JA-37 to an AJ-37 than vice versa.

Thanks guys. the blade antenna on the spine and the yellow radome warning loop (+ stencil) seem to be the main SK-37E giveaways. And I like to know what's going on with different versions this beautiful aircraft. While ordering a third kit (I'd like grey/silver/and fields and meadows schemes) I asked the about the possibility of them producing other versions as I really also want an AJ-37 lugging 2 x honking great Rb04 missiles in 1/32nd scale. They replied: "Other versions of the Viggen are within our release plans, however our schedule is fully loaded and they will have to wait a while"£.
-
While not strictly on the JM kits sub-type topic, but assuming lots of Viggen fans are here, what is that yellow loop line seen around the radome on SK-37Es? It's not a yaw cord, it's painted on and has some stenciling which looks like 'TRYCK LI ****'.

As the kits originate from Turkey the UK govt's ridiculous shenanigans with VAT should not apply to JetMads kits.

Some great schemes, and hard to believe it was all 20 years ago. But without having half a dozen to hand, I think I'll stick with the iconic fields and meadows scheme. It should have a lot of presence in 1/32 scale. Maybe not as much as a WNW Felixstowe, but plenty enough for the average room.

Just for a laugh, I submitted a 'what if' article to Hyperscale way back in 2002 mainly to show off my concept and one of my first photoshopped artworks for a single seat Firefly. It was just an idea I thought was interesting. It looked a handsome enough beast, and one of the guys behind Accurate Miniatures commented at the time it made him take more of an interest in the type. Imagine my surprise at it turning up a year or so ago on a WW2 aircraft discussion forum. Of course the concept was ripped to shreds which was fair enough as I was mainly considering looks rather than practicalities. But just goes to show the internet never lets you forget.

I was hugely disappointed when Peter of Airscale stopped work on his 18th scale metal masterpiece-in-the-making Firefly topic here..
