  1. I would be in for one of those even though I have a resin one. Cheers Dennis
  2. I usually scour the internet and modelling websites first then look at the hundreds of books on shelves above my desk. Cheers Dennis
  3. Feels good rescuing an old model. Cheers Dennis
  4. All clear parts seem to dislike me, vac ones also frighten me to death, the MDC build took two attemptes to get it right using the Squadron one but it looked good in the end. Cheers Dennis
  5. Thank you Gilles, I was also impressed by your display of kits. Cheers Dennis
  6. Thank you very much Martin, it did not feel clean and Crisp at times but it worked out well in the end. Cheers Dennis
  7. Just when I am starting a PCM C200, hopefully it will mean that by the time my very slow building gets to the paint stage someone will bring out some paint masks and I won't have to use decals. Cheers Dennis
  8. This thread has got me to check up on my Typhoons and Tempests, I found my Revell kit and the Paragon bubble conversion and I have another PCM Tempest and an SH Tempest. But I only had one Squadron Typhoon/Tempest canopy so I checked the stock at Hannant and elsewhere but could not find any, so I put 2 on my backorder at Hannants. Today got an e mail from Hannants saying that they were back in stock, so have put my order in. I noticed that the canopy in the Paragon bubble conversion one was yellow so that is now sorted. I used one on my MDC Typhoon and it worked out great much better than the one with the kit so having a spares will be nice. Cheers Dennis
  9. Not for me, the scarcity of charging points and cost of charging really puts me off, my friend has a Tesla and will be getting rid of it soon due to these points. Purchase price is the other factor for me I have two cars one of them a Ford Focus Active to replace it with an EV of the same class would cost me a lot more than a similar IC car. So unless I want to buy something the size of a motorised roller skate I'll stick with what I have the Focus is only 3 years old and the other one an Audi Q2 is 2 years old so they will see me through quite a few years. Cheers Dennis
  10. Thank you Michael, I did not know how unusual it was until II started the build and looked for more information, I bought it mainly for it's looks and Italian subjects do hold a fascination for me. Cheers Dennis
  11. Thank you Michael, it is unusual, I did not know how unusual until
  12. A lot of people will be really pleased by this choice of subject, I am pleased as it saves me money as I will not be buying it. I am not a Luftwaffe fan I just do not find the subjects attractive at all, I will build one now and again just for a relaxing no stress build as with them I do not worry about accuracy too much. But I am happy for you Lufwaffe fans and hope it is a success for Kotare as they might just go on to make kits of subjects that I would like. Cheers Dennis
  13. Most impressive, real stencils, no chance of silvering, a great idea, as a huge fan of paint masks I will have to investigate them further Cheers Dennis
  14. Thank you Christa, it is a rather good looking subject and is quite a change to the more exotic Italian schemes but I find it very attractive Thank you Mike, it is an interesting if short lived subject. Thank you Max, I've got all the information and parts to start my P-47 project but there is a PCM Macchi C200 Series VII sitting on my other desk looking at me, while I am working on the P47 I think I might start tinkering with it in the background. Cheers Dennis
  15. A nice varied collection of builds, I also have some very old builds in the display cabinet plus a 1990's Revell Typhoon and Corsair that I liked that much that I rebuilt them with new paint and decals. Cheers Dennis
  16. As a serial clear part mangler, you have my vote as well. Cheers Dennis
  17. Thank you Kev, it was all worth it in the end. Cheers Dennis
  18. Good tidings, my Kate should be arriving soon then, it will be good to hear your verdict on the kit for future reference. Cheers Dennis
  19. Thank you all very much it is much appreciated, I am attracted to different subjects from the mainstream and this one fitted in well, a very attractive looking aircraft. Cheers Dennis
  20. Sounds like my modelling history, twisting parts off sprues, no paint, licking transfers, the latest masterpiece built in ten minutes all Airfix from Woolworths. I built warships, AFV's, everything I remember building a green train or tram once. Then I discovered exotic (to me) Frog and Revell kits, model magazines and Humbrol paint. On one glorious day my mum took me to Liverpool and there was a model shop, somewhere off Bold street and I bought a Monagram 1/48 scale Fw190, it was an eye opener, lots of different varients and parts and big, all my previous kits were 1/72 scale. I even found Japanese kits and can remember a Japanese biplane floatplane which I painted and displayed on the curtain pelmet at home. Motorbikes, the TT, race meetings, a bike club, bike rallys and of course girls then interferred, but I got good at building motorbike kits and shaping racing tanks from balsa to conver my bikes into racers, there was some Honda CB72/77 kits that I used to favour for this, then the Protar range arrived, the Honda racers of the era, Honda and MV's especially. After kids and the relative quieter life I needed a hobby and started building models again, all sorts of mixed scales and subjects but all aircraft. Then the revolution started an airbrush was bought (Badger) and I can remember using it on my first 1/32 scale kit, a Matchbox SBD, then I used it to refurbish my sons cars, but brush painting was more the choice. Simple improvements to kits, I remember articles called Gilding The Lily (John Teague maybe) with simple fixes for improving kits. Then a spell working overseas meant that I had a nice study to build in and time for models, 1/32 scale aircraft became the norm, resin and PE appeared. I had an account at Hannants and they used to send kits and stuff out to me in Thailand and Australia, I bought a lot of Warbirds and Paragon stuff, especially when we used to fly back to the UK specially for the IPMS Nationals later Scale Modelworld, boy we were cold. A game changer was finding Xtracolor paints, the ease of airbrushing them won me over, later WEM Colorcoats and Model Master enamels joined the arsenal. Back to the UK and Military modelling became a big part of my modelling life, lots of reference material for this including the excellent Mike Starmer books. Paint masks instead of decals was a big step up, mostly thanks to Mal at Miracle Paint masks who made a lot of custom masks for me in the early days, then along came Montex and Makatar. Then 1/32 scale kits and AM seemed to explode, in the 1990's I had a Hannants catalogue (paper) and went through it end to end marking in a highlighter all the 1/32 items from kits to AM. There was not much there but as time has gone on on more and more has appeared, so now my stash is bulging. Cheeers Dennis
  21. Should be interesting, I have for some reason two of these kits in the stash, so will have to drop in and learn stuff from your build. Cheers Dennis
  22. Now that's what I call a result, luck and good customer relations service combined for you. Cheers Dennis
  23. That brings back some memories, nice one Max, not easy but it delivers in the end. Cheers Dennis
  24. Welcome to the Forum, that's a fine collection of builds, I also only build in 1/32 and WW2 subjects. Cheers Dennis
