Loic
Hi guys, looks like I am about to be the first LSPer to open a thread in this GB !! It sometime is good to have a child that wake you up early So, the tittle says much of it, I will take my chance at this Ki-100 puppy. It will be interesting as it should start by SB a complete new engine which is new to me... We will see how it work. Also, I think I will start from Revell Ki-61 (cause I have one and I know I will probably never build it as a ki-61...) but if I get lucky on the carrier GB, it might be the Hasegawa kit wait and see! Hope to meet lots of you fellows in this GB. Cheers, Loic
LSP_Kevin
Pole position Loic! This should be great viewing. Didn't someone, somewhere, once make a conversion set for such a build as this? Even if they did, I'm sure it's long OOP, so until Hasegawa release a version (right after their Kate ), this'll be how it's done. Kev
Loic
Hi Kev, being in pole is one thing, crossing the finish line is an other one I think several atempts were made to propose a conversion kit but I have not had confirmation any was actually available someday but I did not search that much to be honnest! Thinking about Hasegawa releasing this kit (as per the Kate...), I have to say that I would have really been surprised (and happy!) if the Kate thing happened but as an opposite, this Ki-100 would be a rather straight forward option for Hase and I would not be too much surprised by such a release as they already have most of the engineering done from the Ki-61. Just my 2 cents as I have no contact of anykind with people at Hasegawa but if I were them, I would try it Cheers, loic
fastzx
Loic, There was a conversion for this at onr time..... ki-100 1/32 conversion THE MODELER'S WEAPONS SHOP 416 Chicago Ft. Worth, Texas 76103 (817) 536-0128 E-mail: tennexican@mindspring.com I don't know much about that kit What I did was I used one of Dave Thompson's (UMI Resin) Zeke cowl flipped upside down, and his sound advice. I relocated the landing light, built a new windscreen, used the resin cowl, styrene sheet and epoxy putty. On the bottom the fuselage has a rounded section that is flat on the KI-61. Tail is different profile due to stability issues (like extended as a Mustang's had to be) mostly just larger vertical stab - you will see when comparing profiles. the spinner and prop and engine are from a hase zeke. Loic
Hi Jon, thanks a lot for those info. Your Ki-100 looks great! As far as the engine is concerned, I agree a "regular" Sakae would do the job but this Ha-112 has this very peculiar push rods intallation that I would like to try replicate I would also like to open as much panels as I can so the engine might well be quite visible... we will see how it turns I guess. LSP Dan
Loic, Check this out.< http://www.largescaleplanes.com/Works/huguetpa/KI-100.html > Not quite sure what happened to Pascal. He and I were in constant contact t one point then he seemed to drop off the map. Good luck, Ki 100 always one of my favorites !!!
Hacker
Yeah l was interested in that conversion but then Pascal just disappeared. l wondered what ever happened to him. l look forward loic to see how you do this one. So what version are you going to do the early razor back or the later bubble top? and what kit are you going to use the old revell or the new hasagawa kit? l was going at some point tackle this conversion and been gathering data but had lot of unanswer qestions about the whole front end so maybe you can answer them for me as you work along later
fastzx
Hacker, Those are the exact plans I worked off of. Also built a Otaki 1/48 KI-100 for visual ref on the nose. And got the book famous airplanes of the world ki-61 ki-100. It took longer than I thought but I was happy with it since it was my first major conversion. fastzx
Loic, after your Kate this should be a piece of cake. Are you using the Revell or the Hasegawa as a donor kit? You will do great on this, it's an interesting conversion of one of the Japanese best fighters. A 'must have' for your collection. Loic
Hi guys, thanks a lot for all those good intel. I am not 100% sure what kit I will use as a donor, I have this Revell once hard to find one that I know I will certainly never build as a Ki-61 on the one hand and I have the Hasegawa kit that is much better overall on the other hand. If I go with the Revell Kit, it will mean lot more extra work just to correct the kit (wheel well, etc)... If I go with the Hasegawa kit, then what am I supposed to do with my Revell kit? Finally, there is a slight chance I get lucky and get one of the great prices from the carrier GB and possibly the Ki-61... then, what am I supposed to do with 2 Hasegawa kit? So... in order NOT to have to decide yet... I will work on the engine first... I need an engine to work the front end out anyway so that is no big deal. Lets hope for the best with the prices of the carrier GB and if I get the Hasegawa Ki-61, that will be the one I go with for sure... if not, wait and see Cheers, Loic
big matt
Cool choice Loic. I recently saw an article concerning this aircraft. I know I have it somewhere because I considered doing it myself. I will try to find it again.

ruzlkampf
Excellent choice Loic! I'm drooling over some plans of this AC myself to see what is involved in this conversion. Gorgeous design, eh?! I'll be watching with much interest! Russ
Kagemusha
This is weird, I was at the museum at Hendon today, where the last remaining Ki 100 is. I was in contact with Pascal a couple of years ago, and his Ki 100 had kind of stalled to say the least, Dave Thompson told me he had tried to get the masters off Pascal, but they hadn't been able to come to an agreement. I did read when Hasegawa first released the Ki 61 that they were going to release all the major versions including the Ki 100. Good luck with the build, not that you'll need it!
