Astro32
I did some refining of the lower fuselage, based on images on ARC's Website:
Astro32
It's a bit fuzzy. I'm still playing with my new camera! But it shows the initial work I've done here.
Astro32
And after I smoothed things out a bit:
Astro32
I've opened up the rear engine bay cooling flaps to use the Eduard photoetch pieces, and after looking at the images on ARC, some refinement would be possible. I'll do some more respectable images after more play time with the camera; I've also done further work in this area since, so I'll post those too. Astro32
A shot from the inside. I glued in the molded in flaps inside and behind their original location, after I cut them out, to reinforce the area I'd be reshaping. That and I'm Scottish so I didn't want to waste the plastic! Astro32
Can I move this to the Works Forum please? Yes, please! I clicked on the wrong forum! If I need twenty lashes at the masthead, I'll take my punishment!

oletcherfred
Methinks it might be time to send Chris one of our Hellcat sets. Â Your thoughts, Chris? A review forthcoming perhaps? Too bad it might take time from your model-making, however...

Astro32
Now here's one from the inside of the lower fuselage:
Astro32
As you can see, both the ventral and lateral cooling flaps have been removed per the Eduard set's instructions. The ventral flap is re-used with additional details added from the Eduard set. The lateral flaps are replaced entirely with the appropriate etched parts. I felt that once particularly the lateral flaps were replaced there was room for additional refining. For those who do not wish to open up these flaps, it's probably not worth re-shaping.
