Bstarr3 Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 I have two beautiful large scale Tamiyas on my shelf - a Mk VIII Spit, and a birdcage Corsair. I had an idea and I wondered how feasible it could be. I like the idea of using the included stand to model an in-flight plane. The wrinkle is, to model it with canopy open and undercarriage in mid-fold, as though the plane had just taken off. I thought this might be an interesting variation on the theme, and still allow all the great undercarriage detail on these kits to be shown. So the question is, for people who have worked with these kits, how feasible would it be to modify to kit parts to represent half retracted landing gear? Are there any pitfalls I'm overlooking with this idea?
Patrick HMD Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 The oleo's would have to be fully extended. Some surgery would be required there. Not sure about the rest. Name's Pat
LSP_Ron Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 The Spit would be a piece of cake. The Corsair not so much as you'd also have to have the wheel rotating 90 degees to fit MikeMaben 1
rigor Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 That's easy aluminum tubing for the oleo just rotate it in the gear leg if you know what I mean
