Robthepom
I use the Tamiya weathering sets, the only issue with them is they dry out really quickly and are then unusable, i tried keeping mine in the cellophane bag but didnt help They are great when they're fresh Edited February 26, 2019 by Robthepom Out2gtcha
gwana
I have a set of earthtone pastels that I got from <gasp> Hobby Lobby, and my lovely GF picked up a set of ladies' eye shadow from Walmart for a buck that has some spectacular metallic colors. It's had some stunning effects on my copper piping for my Mossie project. Many of the modeling pigments are used in makeup and soap.

I assume that is what you are talking about? They are like makeup powders and I didn't think they ever "dried out". Ive had the same 5 or 6 sets of Tamiya weathering pallets for about 6 years now and they seem to behave exactly as they did when purchased; very similar to fine powder that has been compacted into a tiny "cake" form to fit into one of the 3 little color section in each weathering pallet. Out2gtcha
Here is an example of what is possible with the Tamiya weathering pallets. Each set comes with 3 little individual compartments I used the "oil stain" weathering pallets here along with the "soot". Areas where I used the TWP are the streaks coming off of certain areas, including the leading edge slats, fuel fill caps, as well as hinges and leaky areas that would have been effected by the air/slipstream. The underside got the same but heavier treatment: IMHO, they are infinitely handy. They seem to last a long time too, as I have had the same sets since about a year or two prior to building this model that was finished in 2011. John1
I bought a set of artists pastels at my local Michaels. All I do is take a knife and scrape off what I need. Got a lifetime supply, for under $10.
Hawkwrench
I'll have to buy a couple of those tamiya sets! Tim
