Monster Moves - Spitfire

Watched this programme last night on UK Channel 5.

45 minutes so its good for a long coffee break.

Concerns a guy in the USA who has bought a spit and how they broke her down and shipped her to the USA.

Terrific to see her in her new home. Excellent piece showing the test pilot John Romain "adjusting" the aileron trim with a piece of metal and a lump hammer!

Pretty moving words from the new owner at the end saying he doesn't own the Spitfire, he's just the custodian looking after her for future generations.

Enjoy.

I came in 1/2 way through , great program , looking at the spit packed in its shipping container , I'm sure I wasn't alone in thinking cool another 1:1 scale Spitfire kit...!

My wife was amazed , and socked when they attached the wings, "Just those bolts to hold the wings on... bl**dy hell"

The adjustment of the ailerons was a hoot , judjing by the skin in that area , it had been done before , and I loved the owners attitute , holding the aircraft in trust for future generations .. btw , did you see his hanger , a P-40 , another Spit, a superb P-51D etc ... a true dream hanger!

Well worth checking out if it turns up again

Or the old fashioned manual way, Channel5.com got to "demand 5" then documentaries, then "Monster moves" and look fror the episode "spectacular Spitfire".
