LSP_K2
hey you're really knockin some stuff out Kevin, keep at it! Actually, I think most of the work will be done on all the details. I suppose that makes sense.
LSP_K2
Well now, this is the bolted cover for the range finders located aft on the turret sides. (1:35 armless panzer commander stands in for scale reference.) I'll probably redo this, as real deal had a lot more bolts; other than that, I think the proportions are OK, at least close enough for me. The rest of rangefinder will be proportioned from this piece.
Shawn M
I see on your bench you have a micro punch/die set...please tell me where I can find one. LSP_K2
LSP_K2
I see on your bench you have a micro punch/die set...please tell me where I can find one. Actually, I have both sets Shawn. As far as I recall, I ordered them from Roll Models. I still really need a hex punch set though.
LSP_K2
I just checked; both sets seem to still be available. Roll Models
LSP_K2
Not a lot done this evening, mostly hogging out the closed chock master, as well as some other stuff.
LSP_K2
Thought I'd begin the deck; these are the three main sheets glued together with .020x.100 reinforcing strips added on bottom. I'll have to make cut outs in the deck for teak trim that fits around deck fittings.
LSP_Ron
I'd suggest if you have a LHS that carries wood ship model accessories then go buy some planking and plank your deck in real wood. LSP_K2

I thought about using basswood strips, but I'm not real sure yet. I may just scribe and paint it.
LSP_K2
Two pieces of .060 sheet have been glued together and cut to overall length/width dimensions of turret roof. 1:48 Japanese fighter shown for scale reference. Zero77
LSP_K2
New range finder panel constructed, this time to better proportions. (This one is sort of lame too, so will be completely redone.)
LSP_K2
Rangefinder cover panel added to end panel that I think looks like good proportions. Looking at these photos with fresh eyes (and considering that many of these items were lost anyway), I'll be completely redoing most of them. LSP_K2
Front panel of rangefinder faked up and cut a tad long to be fine tuned once turret sides are in place. The sliding armor plate over the rangefinder glass, will remain closed on my model. lawman56, D.B. Andrus and Zero77
LSP_K2
Not a lot done this evening, jumping around too much as usual. Here's the mushroom vent with discs added to roughly form basic contour/bevel of roof. Much to do yet. Now's when I really wish I had a handle on the whole 3D printing thing, as I could certainly use that process for many of these deck fittings. LSP_K2
Work continues on the starboard rangefinder. The top apparently has a double contour to it, so this will be accomplished with internal gusseting and epoxy putty, then sanded to correct shape. Zero77 and D.B.
