James Rademaker
I was wondering if any of the members have used the KW 3D (seatbelt/harness) decals and what their impressions were?. I have two 109’s to finish and was thinking of giving them a try. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
MikeC
Just used them for the first time on an Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer I'm doing atm. Excellent imo: on a 1/48 bang seat they look really effective. They say you need to use extra adhesive eg dilute PVA: they're right. They were really easy to use once I'd got the hang if them, and could be posed to some extent. Expensive compared to an etch set, but worth it imo.
James Rademaker
Mike, thanks for the reply. Do you think they would look good on a 1/32 109? Currently I’m taking tan or blue masking tape and pitting then together (sticky side to sticky side) cutting to length and adding the PE. BarryWilliams
I love 3D Decal sets and they can be far superior to etch as well as easier to use. All 3D decals should be attached with glue, decal is a misnomer as they resemble decals by being carried on paper. That said I am not impressed by the sets provided by Kits World. I have found them lacking in a number of areas. Placement instructions are poor and often only available online from their website for download. In this case I refer to the 1/32 HB B24 set in particular . Trying to work out where they go and even identifying the right piece is far from easy. Their definition is, at best only ‘so so’ and on some sets it can be way off. They can also sometimes be off register. I found that with my 1/48 Airfix Buccaneer. The level of detail also is poor compared to others. There is a huge difference in quality between a Quinta Studios set and Kits World. Quinta set the standard while Red Fox and Eduard are trying to catch up. Kits World (whose normal decals I have liked) are way behind the pack. James Rademaker
Barry, very much appreciated. The reviews I read and the photos of the finished product did t blow me away. I’m going to stick with my masking tape and PE for shoulder and lap belts. Jim

Possibly: I've yet to try them in 1/32 but in 1/48 they look fine. 20 hours ago, James Rademaker said: I was wondering if any of the members have used the KW 3D (seatbelt/harness) decals 3 hours ago, BarryWilliams said: I love 3D Decal sets and they can be far superior to etch as well as easier to use. ... LSP_K2
I used them for the first time on a 1:32 P-40N, and I like them a lot. I'll certainly be buying more.
