  1. You sure have a point there at judging your mix, but in case you're one of those decanting Tamiya sprays, they also offer a clear blue laquer
  2. Not sure how you are working exactly, but instead of going over the metallic with clear blue, you might want to tint your metallic colour with it right away? Repaint looks way better than the first attempt though, from what I remember. I sure wasn't supposed to watch that movie at age 11 or so...
  3. Taking working safety considerations into account, the tiger in the picture above is much better stored than the one here... ...very educational what you are showing us here
  4. Have problems with my scanner, once again, but the the Squadron Walk Around book states two insulators were used with the blown canopies, which can be seen on the NASM specimen pictured on pg. 40.
  5. Having an kettle standing by to warm the paint helps as well
  6. Not finally decided yet, though I'm seriously considering the Abu Dhabi version for the moment. The last thing I did was cutting some new IPs, but I had no bench time for the last two weeks. Little surprising considering I'm at my mom's place, the work bench is some 400 km away right now and I won't see it again before Friday. But the lady of the house is taking good care of me! No, its a different kit than the Revell. It represents the later Hawk 100/T2 version
  7. That would be one I'd welcome. But then, my taste is not overly mainstream, as some of you may already have noticed...
  8. There is a second release of the kit available, without any pictures, though, that's why I linked to this one. But admittingly, I'm not very familiar with this aircraft
  9. XS-Models offers a Yak-11 in the right scale. Can't comment on the quality, though...
  10. I guess I'm not the first one who learned that the hard way, the I won't be the last
  11. That's why its always a good idea to have an paint mule available, to check before your setup before hitting your actual model, avoiding the very big disaster. Glad you could save it!
  12. In fact, I have serious problems airbrushing Humbrol colours after they changed their formula somewhere during the last few years. Can't lay them down to a smooth surface...
  13. How about some generic PE MFDs? I'm running though a lot of plastic lately, trying to recreate some...
  14. Ah ha! I almost entered my Revell Eagle, but as most of the rear fuselage was already assembled and I put some considerable effort in thinning the trailing edges of wings, stabilisors and elevators, I deemed it to be already over the 25% limit. Which specific plane are you planning to build?
  15. Humor does not always work on the web... ...no, I'm pretty sure that manufacturers do not put much thought into the question what they can leave for the AM guys. But with a bit of careful observation and experience of dozens of similar kit announcement threads over the years, you can't deny that usually there always is a number of people asking almost instantly why certain marking options, versions or piece of equipment weren't included in the kit. Which is why there will always be something left for the AM manufacturers, especially with a type like the Texan which was built in very large numbers and served all over the world. No way a manufacturer can cater for all possibilities. Besides, the limitations of the medium always opens a niche for resin and PE manufacturers... ...eight decal options out of the box are a good start, though
  16. I read that as an invitation to provide these?
  17. C'mon guys, you gotta have to leave a little work left for the aftermarket guys. If all kits had already everything right in the box to everyones demands, the streets would be full of loitering jobless aftermarket producers... I think I'll grab at least one of these when they arrive here. I think the marking options in the box are an interesting, varied and well chosen mix.
  18. Narf, can't post a picture straight away tonight... Anyways, this is from a Polish LiM-6bis, looks fairly easy to me: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/epcj.jpg/ Taken from 'Military Aircraft of Eastern Europe (2) Bombers & Attack Aircraft', published by Concord.
  19. Eh, barnacles! Well, seems like my weekend will be occupied with cutting some MFDs. So much for an easy, quick build... Thank you. We'll see what I'll end up with...
  20. Thank you, Mark. Indeed, something for the lover of more elaborate camos! Thank you. The cover only shows only profiles of early Hawks, but there are also four Mk.100s and even three Mk.200 options included on the sheet. Thank you, Derek. Its sure just a matter of time until I find something that needs clarification... ...like who uses the dual-MFD layout in the cockpit, like in the kit? All pictures I found so far use three MFDs... Thank you, HÃ¥kan!
  21. Many thanks! Ah, my fault, I made a quick count, but as Abu Dhabi and Dubai were condensed under the UAE flag, it fell one short... Good to know! I have a distant memory of some talk including some serious legal issues for the owner. Interestingly, I bought that sheet middle of this year - after my vendor restocked! In that case - grab 'em, while they are still available!
  22. I thought I needed something relatively easy, cheap, quick and dirty, so I canned all other options and ideas and decided to go with my latest acquirement I hauled away from the ESM, namely Kinetics Hawk 100: I haven't decided on any markings, yet, but it will be one from this sheet: (BTW, did you get my mail, Kev?) Haven't decided on a scheme, yet, but I'm leaning towards a bird in desert camo. Will be mostly out of box, with a few small home made enhancements, but nothing too fancy. I'll post some pictures, soon
