  1. One thing I'm frequently guilty of, is getting in a rush to glue things before I should. All six of these fins were added before I cleaned them up, so I now I have to do that while they're in place and it's now three times as much work as it should be, darn it.
  2. Pin marks now all dealt with and base glued together. I've ordered some black texture paint for it (that'll cover any boo-boos as well as look pretty neat). I also ordered a cool Model Monkey nameplate for it.
  3. Looks excellent. I completely missed the wiring until it was too late to add it. Your welds look great and I like the mod you did to the muzzle brake. Any problems with the nasty wheel seams? On my next one I'll be adding the brake light connection at the end of the trail again (though more accurately), but since the version I'll be building had no actual brakes, I won't bother with the hydraulic connection. I'll also use AutoCAD to draw up recoil and elevation gauges.
  4. My Seawolf will be on the base that came with the kit, but definitely weathered to give it some character.
  5. I'm fairly sure that Kriegsmarine figures are available in all standard sizes.
  6. I love those stanchions.
  7. Happy B-Day, Pete!!!
  8. Cool choice. I had lots of problems with mine, but mostly of my own making I think.
  9. On hold until this winter.
  10. Looking good. The only 1:200 kit I have (at least for now) is the USS Hornet, but I have no idea when I'll be getting back to it. I am seriously considering grabbing a cheap router right now though as I have numerous projects that are going to require cases or covers of some type.
  11. I've been to a few and hope to be in Indiana next year.
  12. Base, as provided, has numerous pin holes to be dealt with. Model Monkey makes a plaque for this that may come in pretty handy. My cheapo Iwata will also get a complete deep cleaning to help with painting this beast. I also snatched a small pack of felt squares that I'll chop up and use to line the contact areas with to prevent the hull paint from getting all dinged up. They'll also come in handy for other applications as well.
  13. Thanks, Rick. Once my new paints arrive I can begin to wrap this up, though I still need to build a base for it.
  14. Lots and lots of seam sanding with this one, as hull fit is far from stellar. I'm making excellent progress though, and should easily be ready for primer by this weekend.
  15. I'll seriously consider this for my next kit. Thanks, Ray.
  16. Like I said, impeller is terrible, but sandwiched between the two stators it shouldn't really be that big of a deal, and I'm unaware of a replacement.
  17. Here's an oddball I picked up recently. Another frivolous bid and I won it. Can't say exactly when I'll get to it, but at least I have it.
  18. I do, sort of. My primary concentration at the moment is NGC slabbed coins. Nothing super valuable, but I like them all, and all range from MS 64 to 70 as well as proofs in the same range. First off an 1870 3-cent nickel. I sold it off, but now wish I hadn't. One of my Morgans, a 1904 O mint mark in MS 64 condition.
  19. Not from modeling as such, or at least I don't think so, but from time to time I sneeze two or three times shortly after waking up. I never have found an explanation.
  20. Sorry to hear this news, Chris. My condolences to you and yours.
  21. Sweet. I've got more than one Connie to build, I hope mine turns out as nice.
  22. OK, thanks a bunch.
  23. Good stuff. The Duck looks like an interesting kit. Thanks, Kev.
  24. Here's where Trumpeter really blew it, though that's forgivable, given that the design of this area is still considered secret, as far as I can tell. Stators are just simplified vanes, when in fact they're quite complex. Trumpeter would also have the impeller go on last when in fact it's captured between the two Stators. Impeller itself is also a joke, but I have no intention of trying to make it look better.
