  1. I agree. I haven't check my production kit yet, especially against the test shot I built. For my next, I'll be bunging the new Eduard pit and gun bay into it.
  2. Hi Boris, I used the same cement, but this was a test shot. The plastic was darker and didn't have the same qualities as Revell's usual plastic, but the production kit axle is still the same diameter as the test shot.
  3. I glued the wheels to the axle on my test shot and the axle melted and the wheel drooped. It's true. It happened. At this point, there was no Eduard set. When I posted in my Eduard review about the thin axles on the Revell kit, I did it from experience. The axle is painfully thin. Someone suggested using white glue. That would be an option if you don't want the Eduard legs.
  4. When I came back to the hobby, my technique books were all Spanish style. I tried to emulate and failed. In retrospect, I'm pleased, but I did use some techniques, and adapt and morph them into other styles and my own way of working. When I need inspiration, I often look at this style of model, as it gives me ideas of my own, and I think how I would adapt them.
  5. We will start to see a drift into work from modellers from outside of Spain now. As AK is Spanish, our initial modelling pool in the first issues was Spain etc. but you will start to see a few familiar names in there ever the next issues. This will of course see more work that isn't Spanish style. We've already had a little already with work from a Polish modeller, for example. The inclusion of the vehicle and figures isn't a filler. This was a conscious decision to add something extra that aircraft modellers could use for diorama work etc, and to introduce a few extra techniques that they might not have considered. Figures is one area a lot of us fall down on, and of course, this can be applied to pilots for dioramas and vignettes etc. I'd better explain. I'm assistant editor, so I understand what's planned for this magazine.
  6. You can tell a Brit, when they use 'arse' instead of the incorrect 'ass', which is actually a donkey!
  7. There are a small number of shallow ejector pin marks in the cockpit, so I found it easier to pop some punched discs into them so they resembled the equipment attachment points.
  8. In the UK, they don't The kit here is around £30 retail, and the undercarriage can be bought for half that cost. Your mileage may vary. Having built the model already, I can tell you that a weak point is the wheel axle. A little Tamiya cement and it wilted with zero effort.
  9. Yes, that set is specifically for the new Revell F-8 release.
  10. They come with the resin doors too. A definite upgrade to get.
  11. If you want to see it OOB, maybe except for some belts, here's Jeroen's build at LSM: http://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/3490-132-hk-models-mosquito-b-mkiv/ Here's mine, which is also in the latest copy of Military Illustrated Modeller (with more images etc): http://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/3123-mosquito-b-mkiv/
  12. A bargain! I still say it's a great kit, irrespective of those legs.
  13. I'd hope they were better than the Ju 88 legs I have of his. They are pitted and poor. Probably worse detail than SAC. Ernie did some real good stuff, so I'd hope he'd upped his game to what he originally produced.
  14. One area of slight disappointment are the skinny undercarriage legs with weak wheel axles. Detail on them is adequate. I have the Eduard bronze legs here and they are just amazing.
  15. Mine on its way. Tracking number at the ready!
  16. Sure is Kev. All in the crinkly wrappers etc. Decals are in, but not the instructions yet. There is a slight amendment we had to make, but the file should be with Neil about now and ready to print. Here are the decals.
  17. Mine landed last night! The laser-etched fabric tapes on the wings are just amazing!
  18. Looks great Michael. This has been a really good build to follow. I'll be referring when the time comes to build mine.
  19. Eduard have already announced that they'll release: Bronze legs and resin gear doors Resin wheels Resin cockpit Resin forward gun bay and cowl I hope they do something for the engine too....maybe release a complete resin BMW801
  20. Mine arrived yesterday, and it really is a beautiful kit. The pinched and un-pinched canopies are a nice feature. Builds real well without fit issues, and perfectly captures the lines of this aircraft. I built the test of this for Tamiya Model Magazine, and this was the result:
  21. I'll be getting the new Ta 152 when released. I don't think I did it the justice I could have, first time around, and doubtless, I'll probably even sneak the Do 335 under the radar of SWMBO. I look forward to both releases. Hell, I'd even like them to tackle the Ar 234, and also the Fw 190D. The skeletal interiors are 'quirky' I suppose. Not seriously representative, so despite me loving detail, this really isn't doing much for me now. That would be true for any manufacturer who designed their products in this way. My own building and model ideology has changed over the last few years. Whilst still liking plenty of detail, I really don't care for what can't be seen, and can't be shown with any realism. Perhaps I'm just looking at my stash and realising I'll never build everything if I detail every unseen element of everything I might build. Who knows?
  22. I'm no shake and bake builder. I'm used to test shots and short run, as well as resin conversions. I hate using filler, and don't, if at all possible, but the fuse breakdown of the P-51 was poor, with a lot of work needed to make the lines of the aircraft flow properly. For record, I found the ZM Ta 152 and He 219 to fit beautifully, as I also did with their Skyraider and Shinden. So it's not any destruction of ZM, as one I'll-informed certain poster eluded to.
  23. Probably my favourite build at the moment. Following this closely, especially as I have that GMF resin detail set too.
  24. Not at all. Their Ho 229 is a masterpiece. Here is our review of it. Negative waves? The internals are more representative of the real thing than the pseudo-skeletons of the other releases. And who are you? The Zoukei-mura Karma Police? Here's a tune for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBH97ma9YiI
