  1. We are planning our next Group Builds, and the first one will be a Multi-Wing Build, sponsored by Silver Wings. Any multi-wing aircraft is eligible from WWI through today! Anyone that finishes their build will be entered in a raffle for prizes. In addition, Silver Wings is providing a prize for an additional raffle consisting of those that have at least started a Silver Wings kit! The Group Build will start April 1 and run for 6 months. We are also going to put up a poll soon in which you can vote for the next Group Build that will replace the Battle of Britain build that will be ending soon. Enjoy!
  2. Don't miss this group buy! Doug was able to garner a further 10% discount, and we are getting close to that 25 kit discount! As an added incentive, Silver Wings is going to sponsor one of our next Group Builds, a Multi-Wing Group Build! They will be providing some of the prizes, including a raffle for those that starts a Silver Wings kit in the build! Other raffle prizes will be drawn for those that finish a build! So if interested, head over to the Vendors Board and check out the list of available Silver Wings kits!!!
  3. Very nice model! Paint looks great! Is this the Eduard kit?
  4. Great work, Martin! Very hard to believe it is only your second attempt at airbrushing! And tell your mother-in-law she is a good photographer, too!
  5. Very nice Ki-44! Weathering is great, and nice choice of color schemes. You don't see it very often.
  6. Another option is to use masks and paint the markings. Then you can pre-shade, post-shade and weather them just like the paint on the rest of the model.
  7. It is in a smallish air museum. It is a smaller show, smaller than McMinnville or Seattle. I haven't been the last 3 years as it seems something is always coming up for me. This year, I am in AZ so couldn't make it.
  8. F-101 F-102 F-103 Swedish Draken Swedish Viggen Venom New-tool F-5 F-84 ( might already be happening )
  9. FYI: realize that Trumpeter is no doubt working off of some sort of CAD program. If they are like me in how I make my decals, they draw it up 1:1 scale in the program as this reduces conversion errors. This way you can use direct measurements from references or hopefully extisting aircraft. Then you arrange the parts on sprues and spit it out at the correct scale. They don't copy from one scale to another, they just rearrange pieces as necessary and spit out the parts at a different scale in the CAD program. The hope is, of course, that they edit the file for any corrections needed when they cut some new molds. Apparently they didn't with this one which I think is a bit odd. Apparently they didn't want to spend the manhours. Or they cut the molds years ago and are now just getting around to releasing it. Who knows.
  10. FYI for those in the NW, there is also the Vancouver, WA show at Pearson Airpark that went on yesterday, and the Port Townsend show in mid-June put on by IPMS North Olympic Peninsula Modelers. There is also the Vancouver, B.C. show in October. So we have 5 good shows here, although it is a bit of distance between them.
  11. Nice job on the slicing and dicing, Phil! I always end up with a lot of putty work.
  12. It is looking good, Kev! I could help you out with the scissors, too, but am out of town and won't be back till April.
  13. Outstanding so far, James! Look forward to the next installment!
  14. 120mm is 1/16 scale. 90mm is about 1/24th scale. Tamiya makes some 1/24 scale mechanics that I think could be converted to military mechanics with some judicious re-sculpting. Coveralls at least are pretty universal, just takes a little relocating of pockets or such.
  15. I knew CA did weird things to cotton when I accidentally spilled some drops on my jeans. Hardened immediately but over time kind of ate it. As phantomdriver said, pe is brass or nickel-coated brass and I have never seen any problems there. I have models well over 10 years old with no ill effects from ca use.
  16. Those panels look great, Phil! And the small lens made great bulbs. This going to be a killer model!
  17. LOL!! I have those markings in 1/48 from Mike Grant and was planning on attempting to upsize them to 1/32nd! You would, I am sure, do a much better job; I would for sure be up for a set!
  18. Just catching up on your thread, Phil, it is looking great! For lenses for the landing lights, would the heads from the small pins you get when you buy dress shirts from the store work? The ones here in the States are silver and egg-shaped and I think would look good if they are the right size, and I think they might be close. At any rate, the cockpit is looking great!
  19. I think I agree with Ron, in that the color samples now are so old it is hard to gage what they originally looked like. And no doubt they varied out of the factories anyway. Look at late war Luft colors and the debates over those colors. Or for that matter, look at the variations in the supposed standard US olive drab - or interior green. I doubt there is any single correct color(s) and it will just be a matter of modeller's taste as to what he uses. Let someone who disagrees show how he can prove without a doubt the colors are wrong. I have ordered both the Wingnuts lozenge as well as the Pheon models, so I will do a side by side comparison. It is tough to compare from separate photos on the net as cameras and/or scanners used, software used to adjust the photos, then how the colors are shown on a monitor can all skew how they look.
  20. Oof!! You would be much better served with the Cyber-Hobby Bf109E-4! For one, it has the parts needed for Galland's a/c in the box. At any rate, Galland used a bunch of different aircraft. But one of his most famous was the 109E-4/N. It would have an extra oil reservoir on the front port-side of the engine, and would use the c3 fuel logo. Other than that, and his famous telescope, that is about it. The extra "missing" panel for the IP: are you talking about a small one that sits in the middle under the lower row of instruments? If so, that is an armament panel for the E-4/B, the fighter-bomber variant, and would not be in Galland's aircraft.
  21. For those that don't often visit the Vendor's Board, even though you all should! We are rounding up a group buy over there with good savings, so check it out! Topic is at: Group Buy.
  22. I have never had a problem either, looks like Kagemusha has, though. Paul did mention his dicey ISP's, though.
