Hello all,
looking at starting down the 3d printing rabbit hole, and am wondering what CAD program to go with. I have precisely zero experience with CAD software, but having said that I am fairly computer literate (I spend a reasonable amount of time designing and editing video for training packages and incident reviews at work), and am willing to spend time to learn to drive stuff properly. I am not a fan of gimmicks but do like features that make stuff easier to do without needing the full understanding of first principles. I am also a buy once, cry once kind of guy- I would rather be the limiting factor, as opposed to my equipment, and don't want to waste time learning to drive one package only to have to learn another in 12-18 months because I have hit the limits of the program. I am leaning towards Fusion 360 at the moment- I have a long term plan with regards to getting hold of a Pocket NC 5-axis mill to facilitate my other expensive hobby and the ability to create tool paths seems to be a nice bonus. Obviously cost is always an issue, but I don't mind spending for good gear. Given that, what are people's opinions in regards to the best CAD software. I have read a number of reviews but I would rather hear from people who have actually used it or have already walked the path I am about the commence. I figure it'll save me at least one expensive mistake if I ask first. Thanks in advance
