Happy New Year Friends. So my WW1 bi-plane collection has increased with the new Albatros Eduard 1/48 Albatros D.Va 7161/17 Jasta 46 early 1918 This airplane fell into the hands of the Allies and was displayed on several occasions. It was restored in 1979 and displayed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.

Just finished the Spitfire for my collection. Pilot is extra and from ICM kit. I also have the standing pilot from JJD. Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc, No.416 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, Tangmere, England, May 1944. Some info: Spitfire Mk.IXc LF of No. 416 "Lynx" Squadron, RCAF, based at RAF Station Tangmere, Sussex, UK, circa 1944 and flown by F/L Sten Lundberg. It was damaged by flak while attacking a train and abandoned in France 21-5-44 as per photo below. Just goes to illustrate that the Spitfire was an amazing air superiority fighter but like the P-51, it struggled as a fighter bomber.

He 111 P-1 of 5./KG 54 "Totenkopf-Geschwader", Coulommiers, France 1940 From Wiki: France and the Low Countries Main articles: Battle of the Netherlands, Battle of Belgium, and Battle of France Operation Fall Gelb began on 9 May 1940, with preliminary minelaying operations beginning before midnight. KG 54 was committed to the invasion of Belgium, in support of the German 6th Army. The immediate goal was to suppress enemy air power. I./KG 54 bombed the Aéronautique Militaire Belge (Belgian Air Force – AéMI) air base at Antwerp-Deurne. A second operation was carried out and elements of it bombed ships in the Scheldt Estuary. II./KG 54 attacked Marck airfield and Calais harbour, the first operation carried out by KG 54 in the Battle of France. III./KG 54 carried out strikes against airfields at Courtrai, Belgium and Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée, France.[10] III./KG 54 was intercepted by Royal Air Force (RAF) 607 Squadron which claimed three He 111s destroyed and another damaged over Roeselare—German losses are unknown in this battle.[11] In the afternoon III./KG 54 bombed rail targets in the Ghent–Antwerp–Brussels area. The bombers were intercepted near Lille by 3, 85 and 607 Squadrons. 8 Staffel was suffered heavily, losing six He 111s. Staffelkapitän Fritz Stadelmayr was lost; two of his crew were killed, one was captured by the Belgians and two by the British.[12]

My last completed model of 2020 I am always fascinating about the German "what if" subjects and this jet is my most favorite one. I am thinking about getting another kit for different paint scheme. Since the kit did not come with boarding ladder, I scratch-built one from mini bamboo sticks from dollar store. I also added couple figures from my spare box. I did not glue the gun panels, so all 4 canons can be seen with the panels off.

Very very nice build Erwin. I do collect 1/18 planes and have both the Me262 day & night fighter in my collection. I've not built one in this scale yet.
