  1. I hope everyone is ok and i dont mean disrespect, but i clicked on the thread thinking someone was flying a hawker hurricane to Hawaii for display
  2. so that just puts a coating that the main paint can stick to, right? Which is good because i have a couple cans in stock
  3. hello guys Does anyone have advice or expereance in painting large clear parts, i am currently making ZM 1/32 Horten My thoughts were...wash the parts in soapy water....prime both sides...paint top coat The reason I ask is because i sprayed a small clear part and the paint didnt see to adhere very well thanks
  4. great story Gaz, made me smile I also got kits from the show, but I have no special story to go with them, just that i love a WnW kit, also got seats for my Hawk
  5. man you are crazy, but i'll jump on the crazy train and follow.......toot toot
  6. something for the weekend, yes seatbelts are here, perfect timing and will finish the engine cockpit section I have never used AM belts so it should be an interesting night, I'm thankful for all the reference builds on the internet, they look very complex I used the painted Tamiya tape for the cable clamps, the look much better, more photos when the center section is finished
  7. I got these from UK https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X32002
  8. Nice start, 1/350 looks like good scale for details and detailing, keep the pics coming
  9. Is there any news on if the clear parts are actually 'clear', or are they 'frosted clear' I saw the pictures of the sample moulds and the looked to be clear clear clears
  10. I got quiet a bit finished last night, cockpit is in and i trimmed the junction box wiring, i couldnt quite get the silver foil to work as tie downs for the cables so had to use wire painted silver, I'm not happy with it so I might try flatened lead wire or wine bottle foil Next up is the seat and the IP, i have ordered HGW belts but i might have a crack at painting the moulded belts as well thanks for looking in
  11. I,m not sure what to type........stunning beautiful beast, yes that’s what it is, great job
  12. Thanks guys, if you like details then this is the kit for you, I'm just taking my time doing bits when i get the chance. My brush painting has improved mainly because i have switched from Tamiya acrylics to Vallejo model colour paints. the Vallejo is so smooth and gives great coverage. The only problem is I cant buy it locally.
  13. Thanks for the comments guys, i did some work on the cockpit side walls today, i sprayed German grey, i also added a few placards from my spares box just for bit of added detail to the otherwise bare panels. I actually found the kit decals very thick and took a lot of setting solution to get them into the contours. I painted the levers with Humbrol gloss red, i'll tone down the red once its dry which will probably be in about 3 weeks time
  14. what a cracker of a model, congratulations the finish is very nice indeed, for the one model of the year its perfect better than 5 ordinary
  15. thanks for the great advice guys, everything is still snapped together so still time to give both methods a go. Gaz...... masking the letters!!haha wow that will be fun, right? maybe? I took more photos in daylight and without beer, i added my tamiya mozzie figures for a bit of scale Wife is at work tonight, so i have footy, beer, and modelling.....life is sometimes just perfect Funny story but i actually look like the pilot, the resemblance is a bit freeky
  16. Thanks Don and Karimb I continued work on the under carriage, i found that a aluminium pop rivit is the perfect size for the axle. The rear wheels are a pleasure to paint and fit, I've found that if the fit isnt perfect you've done something wrong. I couldnt help but put the frame on the wheels, and i honestly smiled when i looked at the assembly, the cockpit must be 8foot off the ground, amazing aircraft for its day, amazing Sorry for the bad photos need better light tomorrow I,m really not confident in my dry brushing skills to highlight the Oontinental, I had a try on some of the sprue numbers and looked terrible, so I'll leave them not highlighted *i just edited this post. I must apologise to my old English teachers for my terrible grammer and spelling........Note to self, dont post after drinking beer*
  17. Hey Hey your a genius, what a great idea thanks
  18. Interesting, i never knew that I got bit bored with wiring the junction box, so the good thing about 1/32 kits is i can leave it and start the next subassembly Every blog and build thread i have ever read comments on the size of the front landing gear, and I'm not about to break that tradition.....its HUGE!! I decided to cut the wheel locating pins, I just need to go through my spares box to find right size axel I'm going to leave the Oo, I'll make a mess of modifying the letter
  19. I have no problem with anyone posting anything on my threads, so feel free to ask anything. I can only guess that the panel is wood, but I,ve never been a modeller that sticks to accuracy i have question as well...what did you do with front wheel assembly, did you cut the undercarriage mounting pins and just glue the wheel, or drill holes in the leg and fit a plastic axel?
  20. Yes i saw that from the photos, 4 Hortens on display would look cool I agree Gaz, I'm going to build the internals then decide which parts of the skin I want to add Was there an issue with ZM and continental tyres?? surly they did make a spelling mistake in the moulds, or didnt they have permission to use the name Maybe the designer had a cold and told the tool maker to add Dontinental to the tyres
  21. Thanks for the comments Out2 and Karim Its a fantastic kit and i'd buy another at $116, I'm curently looking for a reasonably priced 1/48th scale Horten (if any one has one for sale???) as I'd like to display different scales of the same plane Karim, I would love to see a picture of your Horten, post one up please, even if its on this thread I've decided to do additional wiring from the junction box on the frame to the engines i have a few options that i'll run by you all for opinions cheers
  22. Hey thanks for the link, it looks a real interesting conversion, but at AU$95 plus shipping I'll give it a miss, although the wood decals on that site are very tempting
  23. Yeah clunk when i saw the photos on this forum I recognised the build straight away, its Gerogesmodel, his build blog is my inspiration I,ve been stalking him for months I love his painting and finish and if i get mine half as good with my new airbrush it will be miracle https://www.georgesmodels.com/onthebench/the-horten-h0-229-is-finally-finished Did it win any awards at the show? if you read his blog the model is going on display at the Smithsonian Museum Do you have a link for the conversion kit? is it a ZM product?
