Great job! Congrats!! -
Wow, That's just beautiful!! Great job!

Most of the 1/18 builds I've seen on here are done in this fashion. Here is an example:
-
Here's some pics of the 1/18 BBI Zero.
-
The A model Fw190, TBM Avenger and Zero are all later model molds and more like built models. They are all pre-built though, so you'd have to disassemble them. strip them and rebuild them.
-
Yes, but they are all pre-builts. Only a few planes were converted into kits. You would have to buy the pre-painted model, strip it down and rebuild it. I've seen quite a few people do it, so it isn't hard.
-
The early molds are the Me-109E, & P-51D and are VERY toyish. Many of the mid/later molds, Stuka, Me-262, Avenger, Spitfire, Fw190D, P-47D, P-40C were either influenced or completely done by Roy Sutherland and are more model-like. I believe the P-51D mold was re-tooled and improved. The Fw190A, A6m2 are done by either BBI or Merit.

These kits are from the old 1/18 scale 21st Century pre-built toys. They are very toy-like but can be built into some stunning models if you have the time, patience and scratch-building skills to take one on. Good Luck!!

Will he be tooling new wings also? -
Damian, Sorry to hear you're still dealing with health issues and everything that comes with it. I hope things improve for you soon!! Just picked up a few landing gear sets. Harry
-
Excellent work so far!! I'm really looking forward to picking one of these up when they are available at Spruebros.

Not to mention the landing light in the wing on the B versus in the gear bay on the D and much of the paneling on the wing is different from the B to the D. -

Most of the wing is different from the B to the D. This is a nice idea, but it might as well be a whole new kit. -
Thanks for the response and your genuine opinion! I hadn't considered the Trumpeter kit until I saw your build. Even though I can't get anywhere near your skill level, it gives me hope that I can put together a perfectly good representation of a P-47. Congrats again, I'd vote that the model of the year if there were such a thing on here.

Nice! This kit is a definite buy for me even though it is off my normal scale.

Absolutely stunning piece of workmanship!! Congrats on a fine build! My one and only question, what is your overall opinion of the Trumpeter Jug kit?
-
beautiful work so far!!
-
Any more word on when this will arrive?

Good news Damian, wishing you well and a swift recovery.
