This is cool..................I like these type of accessories...............and considering Im about to embark on my first Luftwaffe aircraft (built anyway as I have a ton in the stash) this will be a great reference. Im not really a panels open kind of guy, but I like the vignette type of display with a single or minimal figgies and piece of ground equipment.

Looking forward to paint and weathering!

Excellent work, Roy! Might I suggest that the most likely place would have been on the top tray? Based on my experience in the military, I would guess that if the cart was on the flightline, it either had just been used, or is about to be.

Whenever we were using equipment, it was set up for easy/rapid deployment. Once done with it, we put everything away. My guess would be once the aircraft had left on a mission, the cable would have been uncoupled and wrapped around the handles. Then the cart would have been pushed on line or in the corner of the hardstand so as not to be in the way once the aircraft had returned.

Just my opinion, but I'll scour the internet to see what I can find.

Glad to see you doing this! I've been planning to get this and the fuel drum set at some point. Now I know what this cart looks like and the pitfalls to contend with. Thanks!

I don't know the length, for sure, but I've seen photos of them parked off the wingtip of a Fw 190 and, even when connected to the plane, there was enough slack for the cable to be on the ground. So, I would guess at least 7 meters, or 20-25 feet, minimum.

    Looking great, Roy!

I don't find this build to be boring, at all. In fact, it's right up my alley and I'm glad you've decided to post your progress. I have future plans for a Fw 190 display that will need this cart, so I am very interested. However, the one I want to do is the version with spoked wheels, but this is still very informative. You seem to have been able to improvise and overcome, as well. I think anybody who has built anything from scratch did it out of necessity, first. It all starts there, I think.

    Great work!

You have two options XF-60 German Dark Yellow or German Grey XF-63 as the base colors
Tamiya  has a good painting diagram in the 1/48th kit#89768 for the details

    Nice build log Roy!

I've found some pictures on the web that should help you determine the cables length.

The cart is just beside and behind the right wing and the cable runs underneath the plane.

    Pretty obvious :-) (Me 410)

The model now consists of 3 parts, the middle one being seen in the picture under "fitted". If I glued everything together now then painting and weathering would be a disaster.

First now I'll make a little generator handle (no idea why Verlinden didn't include one in the kit... I think it's an important and very visible part.

Then I'll see if I can find something else to add. If not... priming!

Went to the local hobby shop and purchased a bunch of rods in several sizes. Lever was made with a small piece of one of those. The tiny ball on top was made out of milliput.

The on to the priming business. I used Vallejo Surface Primer (73.601) directly into the airbrush (Evolution) and that worked perfectly. No more mixing revell primer for me.

I intend to apply a 'rust-eaten' effect to the left side of the inner part of the central rod.

    Good evening everyone,

Been lurking around for a while infact I did start a build thread a while back on a Bf-109 but thats currently in the attic  .

Anyway I've been building the new Tamiya Corsair since August and thought I'd post it here now that its complete.

    I added the following,

    RB Productions seat harness,

Barracuda studios engine upgrade, wheels and also used the cockpit stencil and placard set,

Major marking were masked and sprayed with the Maketar masks the rest are kit decals. Paints used mainly are Tamiya, Gunze Aqueous, Vallejo and Citadel.

    Some pictures for you.

Don't know if this is the right thread for it.... but here's my supplier experience regarding Revell.

I told them I'd messed up a large part -> 1 fuselage half of 1/32 Heinkel HE 111 kit. I offered to pay for any sending costs etc. Today, a couple of weeks after my request, I received a huge box from Germany with the correct part in perfect shape in it. Didn't have to pay anything. Kudos to Revell!!

I ordered the spare at service@revell.de

English language is no problem for them.

    Hi all,

Some 15 years ago I last touched a model kit. I had done some terrible truck 'models' when I was a kid, really terrible; I'm talking not even taking the trouble to sand the sprue residues, one model not even painting. I just wanted to glue glue glue :-) So, 15 years ago I tried it again. I was a student then. This time I got as far as painting a Chevrolet Bel Air 1/24 engine, of course with the pensil. I didn't know I had to thin the paint. I also got a 1/16 Corvette with Revell airbrush thingy and went as far as to airbrush the body, then stopped.

So with all this experience I started working on a new project, 15 years later, a Heinkel HE111. But I wanted it to be as perfect as possible for me as possible, being a bit hard for myself. I made a few mistakes and decided to try a Trumpeter BF109 1/32 simultaneously, as a test model. As this model turned out to become nicer than I had thought (for my standards, although I'm in absolute awe of the for-me-unachievable works of art I've seen on this and other forums) I decided to finalize this build first (using an old Revell kit as test stuff instead).

i got photos of almost every little step and the numerous mistakes I made, starting with the Heinkel, then over to the Messerschmitt, Heinkel and again Messerschmitt. Maybe I'll make a huge photo thread someday with all those mistakes and things I learned, ideal for beginners such as myself. It would be a bit of a messy thread, as three planes are in there, but it'd still be educational.

Here are two pictures of the finished plane:
