  1. Always a pleasure to follow a Tamiya Spit build, so i'm in!
  2. Gotta admit this is one of the best i have ever seen, and the base just adds to it. Thanks for sharing, Nick
  3. Fantastic! Everything is so well done, and looks just right. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! Nick
  4. Now that i like! I really enjoyed your WIP thread, and the end result is stunning. Looks just right to me eyes. Thanks for sharing, Nick
  5. Awesome build! I especially love the dents - What a great idea. And brush painted!!??? I take my hat off to you sir, you have some serious skills. Nick
  6. Thanks Peter - However i have found some shortcomings with the Vallejo.... It seems to take a lot longer to dry than Tamiya acrylics. Also, when dry its very delicate. Its very easy to knock paint off, and removing masking tape is 'exciting..' Also, the dark earth seems a bit too dark to me. Might sound like i'm knocking it but i'm not - Its redeeming feature is its odourless and sprays very well. Its not as good as my beloved Tamiya, but its good enough. Nick
  7. She looked great before, but looks even better now. You really have this nmf lark nailed Peter. Really looking forward to following this and your future builds. Nick
  8. Looks great, i love the camo job. Nick
  9. Top notch work there, and built quickly too!
  10. Update time - i tried Tamiya paint and thinners in the house, it was far too smelly and would get me into trouble with the wife. So I went ahead and bought some Vallejo model air. Wow! No smell, no messing about with thinners, they airbrush really nicely and clean up is quick. I've just been airbrushing now in the kitchen using a cardboard box as a booth to catch any overspray. Think i have found my new favourite paint. Thanks for the help guys, i'm a very happy modeller now. Nick
  11. Brilliant! It took me a second to spot the bullet strike on the wall, when i did i was . Fantastic work! Nick
  12. When i airbrushed some Gunze paint i just used Tamiya x20 acrylic thinner. It sprayed beautifully, i would use more but i can only get it online, and i'm switching over to more fume friendly paints. I may well get some more in the future though, i got on with it really well. Nick
  13. Thanks Wouter - I'll make sure i pick up a bottle of retarder. Nick
  14. Fantastic build Jeff, it looks awesome. I'm on the verge of starting my Tamiya A6M2, if it comes out looking half as good i'll be happy. Nick
  15. Thanks guys! I bit the bullet and forked out for the USAAF set. Seems to have a good selection of colours that i actually need. I'll report back on how i get on with them. Thanks again, Nick
  16. Thanks guys. I'm looking at buying the USAAF set - 16 bottles for £25, but more importantly that will give me the colours i need for current and upcoming builds. Its a shame i already have loads of Tamiya paint, but if i cant use it (this time of year anyway) then there isnt much point in having it i guess... I did a bit of airbrushing in the house today using some Games Workshop paints. No smell, and it was heaven being able to sit comfortably in the warm and well lit house. Nick
  17. HI guys, in my quest to find a paint that is water based and thinnable with water ( i want to airbrush in the house - Its too cold and horrible in the shed) i'm looking at Vallejo model air. They seem reasonably priced and with a decent range of colours. Can anyone give me their view on them? Failing that Life Colour and Xtracrylix are others i'm looking at. I love the way Tamiya paints go through my airbrush, but when thinned with Tamiya x20 it stinks the house out. Thanks, Nick
  18. But then you get hit with VAT and import charges.. If i could get one to my door for £60 i would get one like a shot. Nick
  19. Glad you liked it guys. I do wonder just how many wrecks are out there waiting to be discovered - It sure is nice to see them, but knowing that someone more than likely lost their life does tinge it with sadness a bit. NIck
  20. Dont think its been posted here, so thought i would draw your attention to it. http://www.warbirdsnews.com/wwii-events/uncovering-p-47-thunderbolt-crashed-germany-wwii.html Nick
  21. Great video, thanks for sharing Peter. Flying is something that i really want to do, but lack of money has always held me back.. Maybe in the future.. Iain, your mates Cub is awesome, i saw a similar one last year at Throckmorton airshow. Very very cool.. Nick
  22. I have way more fun sitting with my boys and helping them knock out a cheap Airfix kit. Dont get me wrong, i love building, i enjoyed my Tamiya P51 build immensly. But my current Helldiver build is NOT fun at all, which is why i have shelved it for the time being. Anyway, to me if it stops being fun and relaxing then i stop and do something else. The build rate is slow but i'm enjoying it. Nick
  23. Thanks guys, that has given me some food for thought. I guess i'm thinking about doing it in the kitchen - I can knock up a diy spraybooth, and maybe fit a suitable fan to it to extract any fumes. Although i have just remembered i have an extractor fan fitted in the kitchen wall - maybe if i set up underneath it it might well pull the fumes up and out of the house..? I'll give it a go a think when the wife and kids are out and assess the smelliness then. I sure need to get something worked out though, i'm itching to start my Tamiya Zero build. Thanks again, Nick
  24. Hi guys, just need to pick your brains if possible. So far i have been airbrushing in my shed. Its cold, dark and there isnt much room. Because of this i dont really enjoy painting, and i find now that winter is here i'm putting off builds because painting is such a chore. So i'm thinking about airbrushing in the house... But i'm a bit wary of poisoning my kids, wife, and myself. Now, if i use Tamiya acrylics, with Tamiya x20a thinners, will this produce harmfull fumes? I can knock up a spray booth to catch any overspray, but venting it might be a problem. If i can set myself up in the dining room where its warm, dry and comfy then i can practise more and not rush - and in turn not keep making silly mistakes! Thanks for any insight, Nick
